Wife and I used that little sucker on branches that had come down for Ida, saved a lot of work. Burn pile was high.

That is a handy thing to have...especially being electric...got a 14" saw that does the job and is so much cheaper than having a company come and do it.

I love using chainsaws! I've cut down some really big pines with just an 18". My dad bought a small electric one a few years ago, I laughed. I used it for a few hours and had to eat my words. It did the job, and it did it well. I havent used a battery operated one, but my boss was talking about his the other day and said he was impressed with it.

Maybe an apples and oranges comparison, but I have a Bosch driver/drill, and it is great for what it is. There came a point I had to get a corded drill for serious work, and glad I did. I bought an Echo CS 400 18 inch that has still not been used, but hope to get up to the forest and cut some wood for the back yard firepit for the winter. www.echo-usa.com/Products/Chainsaws/CS-400I wanted to buy a STIHL which is STIHL made in the USA...if I depended on firewood for heat, I would have went that route, but I am a shadetree lumberjack and cheap.

trailboss Battery operated tools have came a LONG way. I framed a wall 2 weeks ago with a battery operated Dewalt framing gun, I couldn't believe the kick that it had. I've been using a Ryobi trim gun for a while now and I love it. No hose or tank to drag around either. I HAVE to use a corded drill for mixing thinset and grout for tile, I've burned up too many battery ones trying. They just don't have the power. I wouldnt trade my impact driver for anything.

There is certainly a point for justification of expense when you are in the trades and when you are not.
Cool to hear that things have come a long way though.
Keep the Lithium batteries out of the garage or the truck in summer, the Arizona heat is a battery killer.

Got my new assignments for the next year on where I will run. Since our patients are on a 30 day cycle for prescriptions, so week 1 through 4 are my out of town monthly runs.
1. Shiprock (reservation) New Mexico 3 days 2. Towaoc (reservation) Cortez Colorado 3 days 3. Truth or Consequences New Mexico 3 days 4. Sierra Vista/ Tombstone 2 days
Give me a shout if any of you all are in the areas.
BTW John, typically we run 10 wheeler tandem axles on the longer runs for snow, I tend to think of any un-trailered truck as a straight truck.

Hit a few junk shops (and other places) with my wife today. Managed to find a few things to bring home. The Kaywoodie should clean up pretty easily, most of the work will be in the stem. The Grabow needs a little more work. The rim is pretty charred, with a few nicks. may need sanding and restaining. Fun little projects.

Discovered a little while ago somebody's been trying to hack into my NAS. Had to set up a firewall. That seems to have done the trick.

I built a 18 by 34 foot back porch with a 1/2 inch beadboard ceiling and a 16 by 32 foot deck with it along with dozens of smaller jobs. My main drill now is a Craftsman 20v 3/8 drill/driver. I have 2 batteries for it so no waiting. The hardware store had a Milwaukee chainsaw and blower combo on sale for $300 and the included battery was $229 by itself. It was the largest lithium battery I've ever seen.

So this is different. Had to move my weekly lunch date with mom from Tuesday to today as I was helping my in-laws move in. My mom requested that we go see the new James Bond movie and forgo Chinese today. Guess we’ll be munching on popcorn and whatever else they serve at movie theatres instead.🍿🥤

I like when home depot runs specials where if you purchase 1 item you get 1 free, or even at a reduced price. I always pick up extra batteries during that time. I have 6 batteries total. The trick is to actually charge them when they die. Im not sure how many times I've said "I'll charge it later" and then realized I have 6 dead ones. Good thing they make a quick charger too 😁

I have a Stihl chainsaw. While it works well, you are right in that it burns through chains like crazy. Sharpening one is almost as expensive as just getting a new. I just throw the old one away and get another. While I don't use one anymore due to some back and hand issues, if I were to, I'd move up to a Makita.

The local shop wants $7 to sharpen one and $17.95 for a new one. Thing is that every time it throws the chain, it mangles the sprocket teeth on the bottom of the chain. No other chainsaw I have ever used has done that. I'm thinking about trying an Oregon bar to see if it helps. Every Makita tool I have ever used seemed like a bargain. I didn't know they made chainsaws. I have my generator installed on a cart now so I can use the $49 electric Poulan until it burns up.
