Had quite a storm come through last night, tornado warnings and all, but the main path was south of town. I'm on the north side. A some limbs and trees down - but no tornados, so we lucked out.

We received our Moderna Booster this morning. Normal reaction; sore arm and general body soreness, tired. But glad to get it.

I'm overdue for a tetanus booster. And probably the other stuff you usually get at the same time as that. Need to get the shingles shot, too. Haven't decided on the flu shot.

The Moderna knocked me down for 3 days each time. The flu shot usually knocks me down for a week, so I will get it the same time as the booster.

The shingles vaccine didn't affect me either. But the COVID vaccine sure does.

I've been trying to get my wife's new greenhouse wired for the past few days. Even when it's cool outside it's like being in an oven. Anyway, 90% finished today. I just have to add the cover plates and hang the lights. 20 amp GFI feeding everything. I am getting behinder on my projects every day.

I'm overdue for a tetanus too. My doctor told me Medicare won't cover it, so next time I cut myself to just come into the office and they'll give me the shot. Then Medicare will cover it. He's told me this for a couple of years and I haven't had a real cut yet during that time, so this time I pulled out my knife and said "OK, hold on a minute". He didn't think that was funny.

I'm not sure I've mentioned it here before or not. Several years ago, I grew orchids as a hobby. At one time, I had 40 or 45 growing in my "hobby room" on shelves - with grow lights. Timers would turn the lights on very early in the morning and they'd stay on 10 or 12 hours. My wife wasn't happy about the power bill. One day I was out somewhere and ran into an old friend. We talked a bit and she asked me where I was living now. I told her I still lived at the same place and she acted surprised. She said she had heard that some pot grower had moved into my place. Apparently, people driving into work in the early hours of the morning saw the pink light from the grow lights shining out of the windows of a back room of my house and just made up the story that someone was growing pot. It least she figured I had moved, since she didn't believe I would be doing that.

Orchids always make me think of 2 movies: The Heat of the Night, and The Big Sleep.

I heard that Alec Baldwin was going to be the next James Bond, with his recent experience, he has a real life skill set to play the part! Utterly laughable. I have long believed that Clive Owen would make for a good Bond replacement. He had a rough youth which put an edge on him. That would be the edge for violence and mayhem which Bond must have as a professional killer. Smooth with a stern and deadly undertone. Sean Connery so had it down. I'm with you on this one. I think Clive Owen would make a great Bond.

I saw Owen in CHILDREN OF MEN and ELIZABETH, but was unaware of his very extensive body of work. No doubt he could handle a Bond role, but from the look of his cv he might not want to be limited that way.

My Pet Peeve list grows apace... Lately I have noticed more and more sites are using a "response-to-browsing" trick. When you look at something on their site they follow up with a "better-hurry-and-order" email response. I find this smarmy and it immediately turns me off that site. Don't these marketing mavens ever consider the end-result of their hyper-pushiness? Apparently not.

No doubt he could handle a Bond role, but from the look of his cv he might not want to be limited that way. He should have been brought in long ago. I agree he may have passed it. A good movie of his is the English film, "The Croupier", 1999 or so. He plays an apprentice learning the trade at a London casino. The Bond link is clear enough. I do not know why he was missed.

Some roles are a "retirement village" for actors. I used to think that Robert Duvall had a shot as our finest and most versatile film actor. Then he found his "Gus" schtick in LONESOME DOVE and never looked back. Doing it over and over again in multiple performances— whether Gus or not. A great loss.

You are lucky you haven't been visited by armed and armored SWAT teams thinking that you are a grower (of pot)...maybe you need a notice on your front door letting them know you grow orchids.
