Took my cat to the vet today. Blood work has been sent out for a second look. I am glad that the vet is not taking chances.
Spoke with the kidney specialist today. Blood work to be done in the next couple days.
This year is coming in like a lion. I hope it goes out like a lamb.
Thank you to everyone's well wishes during my illness. I hope you all are pulling through yourselves.

Got my errands for the day run finally. Picked up two chainsaw chains and another gallon of bar oil. The bar oil, and I got the cheap stuff, was 15.00 for a gallon. I was gonna pick up a couple of extra, spare 1lb propane bottles for the Coleman lanterns I keep around and ready for emergencies, but they jumped in price from 4.00 each to 10.00 each. The world has lost its collective mind.
At any rate, my saw is ready for whatever comes.
Tomorrow, it’s back to the indoor arena to continue working with that recalcitrant mare.

Uneventful day that's good I cant afford the other kind. Dropped off some good clutch packs for the transmission I already had saved up and grabbed my cane out of the pickup.

10 degrees with a stiff wind. Wind Chill about -11 degrees (F). The wind blowing over the house suck the heat right out, Interior temp at 56 degrees. Not bad but a little chilly.

Good weather for the next week in NE Texas! Gotta get everything done before the heat kicks in. Lows in the upper 30s and 40s,highs in the 50s and 60s with lots of sun. Going to the lawyer this afternoon to make our wills. Then I can start riding the trike again!

It’s snowing here but nothing’s sticking to the ground thus far. The weather man finally got it right albeit six days late. Where’s a darn casino nearby I can go to and smoke? That one’s for you Kevin! Cheers......

-3° last night and only 18° as it pushes noon so the snow is still with us. Roads not so good around here but we’re used to it. Most vehicles hereabouts are pick-ups and I can’t remember when I last saw a 2WD. I put corn out for the birds and tree-rats before the snow so they are burrowing down to get at it. Up to 9 squirrels at a time at the feeding ground. Drives Eli crazy but he sure does like to watch them. Occasionally I’ll stealthily open the back door so he can go out and harass them. Hasn’t caught one yet but he enjoys the chase. I begin to suspect that they do, too. Squirrels bore Jack and he has no interest in them.

0155 hours, electricity goes off. That means no O2 concentrator nor CPAPA. I had taken both Ambien and oxycodone 2 hours earlier, pain level higher than normal. Too dangerous to sleep without breathing aids. I called in the service interruption to our REC dispatcher. So, up and light oil lamps. Pace back and forth. Fill wood stove, feed the cats, walk back and forth. Waiting. Come the dawn, power restored and back to bed. Up at 1000 hours. Groggy.

Especially diesel trucks with that big hunk of iron placed forward. My engine weighs about 1,000 pounds. Then there is a Ranch Hand steel bumper and guard rail. So, my truck is extremely spin happy if there is not a load in back. Hence 4 WD.

That plus the cap makes it pretty balanced with the little engine. It's only 320 pounds and 19" long. The engine compartment looks like something is missing. Anyway, the driveway has deteriorated from all of the big trucks and the weight on the back helps noticeably.

After much string pulling and networking it now appears I will be receiving a vaccination for COVID 19 on Wednesday, February 3. Following the official government channels got me no where.

Just below freezing here in Illinois. Roads covered with ice, then covered with a couple inches of snow. Good day to stay home - but I might venture out for a short trip anyway.
Spent an hour repeatedly dialing the phone this morning. Local health department was making appointments for vaccine shots Friday. Started taking calls a few minutes after 8 AM. I called over 200 times, never getting through, before finally getting a message that appointments had been made for all the vaccines they had. My wife called just as many times on her phone - for me. She is already scheduled for a vaccine at the Assisted Living Facility she works at. She's an LPN. Oh well, if it's going to happen, it'll happen.

Woke up to a windy, cold, snowy day. Surprise. Decided not to haul horses on the bad roads, stayed home and ripped out a wall in the living room with the boys. No insulation at all. It was the exterior wall that has a big brick chimney on the other side, outside. My logical, cowboy thinking said there must be a flue to that chimney covered up years ago. Tore the whole wall out, no flue. Now I gotta re-build it. At least I can insulate that part now. Turns out this entire chimney was built for a coal stove in the basement . Live and learn. I require adult supervision.

After you freeze to death in the dark it's nice to know that you will be safe from the people that you never see! 😜 This is why I have a wood stove and not a Pellet Stove or other device relying on electricity. Yes, part of the house got cold owing to the electric heater being off but the wood stove will warm the entire house to a tolerable level provided one bundles up!!!. Plenty oil lamps and oil lanterns. Even big Mexican church candles but they smoke a lot. The vaccination will not prevent catching COVID-19. It will attenuate symptoms sufficiently to keep me alive... I hope.

Buddy has been jumping on door handle to come in, it’s not a round knob, it’s a push type handle. He’s screwing it up, making it jerky and hard to open, wife’s goes to Lowe’s, calls and asks is Schlage a good lock, yep I say, make sure it’s a round knob, Buddy can’t destroy that real soon. She gets back and quality is not what I used to see, yep made in China, I install the lock, locking button doesn’t work. I take it off, she goes back and returns, I tape the hole up, will try tommorow, I’ve got the dead bolt lock for tonight. No more quality anymore even if you pay for it.

Living in the city, the bed of my truck was unusable space 90% of the time. I didn't love any of the tonneau cover options, so I ended up with the drawers. As long as the tailgate's locked, they're locked.

Before that I had Frontier with a snap-on tonneau cover. Much happier with the cap.
