12 billion rounds were made last year with 10 billion rounds going to the general public. Those production numbers keep going up and have been doing so for at least the last five years. Panic buying anyone.

Panic buying anyone. Sadly, with them numbers, it would be great if people concerned about availability going forward would be concerned about those trying to decimate the product. Likewise, we see the same situation in the pipe community... "I have a deep cellar that will outlive me" By inference... "Screw those that come after me".

20° last night, 46 now, and heading for 70 again. Then, for the weekend, three days of snow forecast.
About ammo, for sure there is some “panic buying,” but a larger factor is the hoarding element. Remember when guys would buy out the 22RF at Walmart and then try to sell it for 2 or 3x the price? Same thing has been going on 9mm, 5.56, and 45AUTO. Now we have simple old hardball 9mm going for $60/50 and up IF you can even find it. I have a story from a friend who works in an LGS. Guy came in and bought 120rds of 5.56. Put it online while he was still in the parking lot and sold the lot for $700. That is totally insane and I would call THAT is panic buying. Over $5 a round. I couldn’t believe it. Still not sure I do, but my friend is a reliable guy. Those guys sitting on 15-20k of accumulated ammo, and buying more when they can, are much more of the problem. Ammo makers are saying they are going full tilt and predicting that they will NOT get caught up until 2022— if then. Lots of uneasy people out there.
And this just in from a friend back East— Sellier& Bellot (a second-line maker) 9mm is going for $100 per 50. And the beat goes on...

Kind of cool and a bit breezy, calling for a high of 45 today. I think 4 or 5 of us are going riding today if the wind don’t get crazy

I met a guy that has several presses, is meticulous in reloading, and I have always saved my brass and have little time to reload. We cut a deal...the deal is that the 45-70 is calculated on current pricing for a trade in reloading. I would like to have a 45-70, but I think that this is the best way to proceed. 2 of my sons and I shoot .45-70. I have 2 Winchesters, my oldest son has a Marlin 1895 and my Marine has a Sharps carbine. The one son reloads, and we all chip in components, he keeps us stocked. We all also shoot .45acp and .44mag, and we do the same with those. Whenever we’re together, ammo is not a problem.

Only got to 67° today but that’s plenty for a pleasant, if overcast, day. Continued to tumble-clean 9mm cases and the doggos got their run. Not much else going on in these parts and that’s just the way I like it. Very little wind, too, altho at the house it is sometimes hard to tell since we are surrounded on all sides by woods, with thick cedar and spruce to the NW. I hope everybody is experiencing some pleasant weather. But March came in like a lamb and we know what that can mean. Only 7 days ‘til the Ides, so heads-up, Caesar.

It is funny, the guys I work with talk about how busy we are. I typically work 9 hours max, usually 8.
In my previous job, every day was 14 hours and 70 for the week.

Clearly, left on your own, you over do it and are killing yourself. You must cultivate leisure and find more things NOT to do. This song is instructive.

Contacted the tobacco shop asking about blending tobacco. They don't have any. However they can make up a house blend for me if I want. I pointed out to them how little sense that makes. I really want to laugh.

Good morning everyone. Should be another beautiful day today as temperature expected to top out at 50 (10C). Pollen levels are very high too with Cedar, Alder and Juniper being the main culprits. Guess I’ll be laying low today and won’t be at the office. First World Problem.

We’ll get close to 80° today, with snow forecast for tomorrow and a high of 45°. The perversity of High Plains weather continues to entertain.

The weather is getting really nice here in the next few days. I'll miss part of it as we are heading to Buffalo for about 10 days to see family. Everyone is fully vaccinated now, so after a year, I can actually go home. Pretty excited to see everyone, and eat some of the foods I miss so much.

I would love to have a beef on Wick just about now. Finally got everything from the collapsed storeroom to the new one. Plumbers are hard at work and the pavers are supposed to be hear tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
