Thanks, Kelly, for the kind words and the info. Much appreciated. I’m not creating any scenarios, just taking it one step at a time. Y’day I had the “therapy” meeting re exercises for the aftermath of the operation. Trying to treat this an adventure instead of a trial. Hard to do sometimes, but I keep trying. I NEVER make things worse by worrying about things that I can't do anything about. That is an important lesson in life.

Another busy day at the croft. Realized the iron filter was empty, so I took care of it right as the insurance appraiser arrived to check out my car. Yesterday was the first collision I've had since 1983. I made a cover for the boat so it'll not fill up with rain (50% chance tomorrow), and gave the downstairs of the barn a good cleaning. I'm absolutely bushed. Tomorrow is another day with its own worries and projects.

My wife was exposed to someone with COVID last week at her workplace for just a few minutes. As a precaution, she went and got tested over the weekend. Received a text this morning that it came back positive. So, our son and I had to get tested today. I opted for the lab test and will find out by Thursday. My son had the rapid test and came back negative. Now, we're wearing masks when in the same room. Frustrating. For a year we dodged this thing. I had to reschedule my 2nd vaccination, self-quarantine... But, we all feel fine and hope it stays that way.

Guess I'm getting old and stupid, didn't catch that there was a problem between members. Same.

All kidding aside, and doubling down on Urb’s comment, stay safe and hoping the negative stays negative.

Thanks, guys. Frustrating, because we have been so careful. Speaking of HB, it would be interesting to see how large the batches are when they're blending it (or any other really popular blend). I picture bulldozers pushing burley around.

Finally got through with my house update...New hot water heater..2 new toilets..4 new ceiling fans..Thanks to the stimulus money..I did my part. I am thinking about going for a tankless water heater in my next go-around. The water here is really hard, but I have a water softener, still a tankless would probably last a lot longer and consume less energy. I am fortunate in that any plumbing or HVAC I can get for 5% over wholesale with my employer. I've had a natural gas tankless water heater for 15 years now and it's been great. 15 years ago I started saving $6-$7/mo. average in my natural gas usage after it's installation. At that time the IRS allowed a 50% line item credit for the cost of installing such an energy savings unit. So, even though the tankless water heater was more expensive at that time the income tax credit made the purchase cost reasonably close to a tanked unit. Then the monthly reduction of natural gas consumption gradually covered the rest of the tankless heater investment. We can run a clothes washing machine, dishwasher, follow someone else who took a bath (all in a short time span) and I still have all the hot water I need for a shower. You never run out of hot water and only heat the water you use. You aren't heating a tank of water 24/7 all year whether it's in use or not! The 2020 line item credit by the IRS is now down to $300 for a tankless water heater. Not as good as I experienced 15 years ago, but it does help to offset the investment made and energy savings will help one recoup the rest over time.

I know a few people who have been so super careful and have somehow contracted it. That's extra frustrating considering how so many seem blasé about it and don't take precautions and yet they seem to get away Scott-free. I hope you all remain symptomless.

18 degrees this morning. Cold enough in the house as I did not stoke the stove last night. After six months of this, I am ready for warmer weather!!!

Happy Wednesday everyone. Today looks like the best day of the week as temperature expected to top out at 59F. On the downside, allergy levels are extremely high again with alder, cedar and juniper being the main culprits. Nothing like starting the day with strong coffee and an allergy pill.

Just starting to rain and as it falls the temp should drop as well 71 degrees at 97% humidity expected 50 degree in time for dinner. Reduced to back up pre ground coffee until I get by the roaster this week. Have a chipper day.

30° this morning, I’m so done with the cold. I’ve got an invitation to come work in Moab, Utah on a horse spread, and I’m thinking about taking it. It’ll probably take a year in the desert to fully warm my ol’ bones back up after the last year up here on the Palouse.
More packing and sorting today, can’t go run around as Shweetie drove my truck in to work.
Sold one of the horses last night, they’re picking her up tomorrow. Hoping to be able to hang on to the other one, she’s coming along so well.

This morning I made the trip into Ogallala (“Cowboy Capitol of the World” so saith the Chamber of Commerce. Would they lie?) this morning for the final Moderna jab. I will not jinx myself by saying no side effects, not even a sore arm. So there.
This afternoon Eli saw his first turkeys. They were slowly parading by on the grassy strip in front of the dog pen. He looked for a second or two and then bounded down off the deck to tell them to “Git!” They did. He’ll be watching for them in the future as he has a great memory for possible fun.

Very slow day at the office. Guess the warm temperature brought everybody out today. Started off with Molto Dolce and finished with Exhausted Rooster. After nine holes, we decided to go for lunch. Good news is one of my parcels arrived and just spent a very pleasant 30 mins cellaring tobacco. 👍😁

Went into Taos. Errands and a haircut!! First one in two years. All through the pandemic I was cutting my own with mixed results.
Cards with friends and Chinese takeout. Nice change of pace.
Cold evening following a mild enough day.
