Went into Taos. Errands and a haircut!! First one in two years. All through the pandemic I was cutting my own with mixed results. Cards with friends and Chinese takeout. Nice change of pace. Cold evening following a mild enough day. Glad you were able to get out and have some company.

Glad you were able to get out and have some company. Thanks! Me, too!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll bet! Online stuff is great -- a godsend for some -- but most people need to see other human faces from time to time.

My Moms only sister died, too sick to go to Funeral, bumbed out about that. . Sorry to hear that. I had an uncle pass last summer. His family had a kind of a hard time with not being able to have the extended family around. Hope you feel better soon, at least.

Up early, 48 degs, wind out the North 12 to 15 mph, 80 degs last week, feeling better, 2 nd shot kicked our butts, wife and I, sore arm and fever off and on. Feeling better now, unable to attend Mothers only sister’s funeral she was 96, her Son helped me when my Mom died, thought I would return the favor when his died. Feel really bad about it. Hope all is well with everyone.

I spoke too soon about the arm after jab #2: last night it got sore as hell, but this morning it seems OK. No other symptoms altho I had very slight nausea about bedtime. Gone now. I hope you get no more recoil from yours.

Coating of snow this morning and 28 degrees. Not ideal weather for playing baseball, but not unusual. Back into the 60s this weekend.

It being so cold this morning at Dawn, I left a fire burning in the stove and went back to bed for a couple of hours more sleep. Had a rough night with pain and sleeplessness.

Supposed to be warm and sunny today, but right now it’s overcast, cool and breezy. I have someone on the way out now to pick up one of the horses. That’ll be one less thing on my plate to worry about. I had high hopes for her when we got her, but she never lived up to those hopes. She has the worse “I just don’t want to” attitude of any horse I’ve owned in years. Don’t need the headache or the feed bill. So she’s going.

My COVID test came back negative. My wife is still asymptomatic. We still have to self-quarantine for until next week. Our 2nd vaccination has been rescheduled to the 15th.

Both the spouse and I got lucky. We've had both shots, neither of us had any side effects beyond a mildly sore arm (me) after the second shot. I'm grateful, and I also wish that nobody would have any of the side effects.

73° here today, great sun, gentle breezes. The pups got their run today, in spades. In addition to the field north of the house I took them down on the creek that runs all thru the property. It springs out of the aquifer about 2-1/2 miles from my north property line, runs thru the place in a radically serpentine course, and then flows into the Platte about a mile from my southern boundary. Unlike most streams in these parts, this one is year ‘round, and flows at an estimated rate of about 5-million gallons a day. (24 hours)
Once we got down on the creek Jack had to get out and go play paddy-paws in the water, which is still mighty cold. Him no care. He loves the creek, and its soft sandy banks. And it suits him right down to the ground to come back muddy and wet. In the summer he will go down to it and sit down, or lie down in a shallow spot, to cool himself off. The good thing about GSPs is that if you let them dry out, the mud and dirt just falls off them with no further clean-up needed.
We’ve had a Red Flag Warning for the past several days. I have trash to burn but it will have to wait.

The county is showing our property about twice as large as we have. So I took a walk. All Raspberry vines down to the creek. Looking forward to picking some soon.

Looks like beautiful country, Ron. Be sure the county is not calculating your taxes based on that map! 😳

Years ago, I demanded a re-appraisal of a two story ancient adobe on 1/8 of an acre. The taxes were outrageous. The County appraiser showed up. He pointed to a neighbor's home and asked me if that was the house included in the property description. When I told him there ain't no house, he was astonished. For years I paid the property taxes of that neighbor. Refund? Forget about that. Money down the drain.

I actually met my county tax collector a few years ago at a Kentucky Derby party. When we were introduced and all I could say is I think I have cussed you out before!
