I read Harry Potter & the Cursed Child, and thought it was pretty weak. However, I should point out that that play was written by committee. I haven't read anything written after Cursed Child. I've read a couple of ancillary books of hers; for example "Tales of Beedle the Bard" which was kind of interesting, providing a little cultural background for the imaginary wizarding world. I'm looking forward to further installments of the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise. You should give a try to the Cormoran Strike's series she wrote as Robert Galbraith. It's crime fiction/mystery rather than fantasy but I thought, after reading all of the Harry Potter novels, that they are quite good. I'll give those a look. Thanks.

I'm now reading Dark Angel by Mika Waltari. It's about a middle aged man who goes into Constantinople in it's last days to die. It really captures the mood of the doomed city very well.

The I-Ching or Book of Changes. Nice, which translation? John will have to speak for himself, but I have translations by Richard Wilhelm, Z.D. Sung, Kim Farnell, Rudolf Ritsema, R.L. Wing, and Kerson Huang.

Some old gothic horror audio book about a weird vampire written by some Irish guy named Brad or something like that. Not bad really. It's read by Alan Cumming and Tim Curry.

Recently finished Jesus and John Wayne by Kristin Kobeso Du Mez. Recommended.
Almost finished Madhouse at the End of the Earth by Julian Sancton. Recommended.
Next up is The Spy and the Traitor by Ben McIntyre. We'll see.
I haven't read much fiction lately and need to rectify that situation.

I can tell you’re stoked. 🧛♂️ 🤠 What are the little gif symbols you use? They don't resolve at my end. (GIF908 and GIF920.) Perhaps it's better that way.

The first one is a cute vampire and the second one is a guy with a cowboy hat. A lot of the emojis that other people use don't resolve on my screen either. I have no way of knowing. They are emojis on my phone. Surprised that they show up as gifs. I get " " a lot that I know is someone's emojy, as well as oldcodger.
