Been looking for a long time for a White Spot that really tickled my fancy. Found one, a 3202 Shell Briar. It's "big" for a Group 3, more like a 4 which is exactly why I went for it. If I could find it in the County finish, I would also pull the trigger without hesitation. Man, on man, the wait is already killing me.

I received the pipe today. Believe it or not, it does not pass a pipe cleaner. I am flabbergasted, not to use another term.

I can't honestly ever remember being so disappointed by a pipe purchase. This sh*t is really not serious, coming from such a pipe making company boasting they make the best pipes in the world. Lucky for me, the merchant is really good so the next steps should go smoothly.

Does anyone have an email address to contact the company? I found a website (whitespot.co.uk) while browsing on Pipedia but the email address does not seem to be current.

Thanks, bud, but that's the Dunhill boutique associated with Cupojoes if I don't mistake. I was seeking the sales Head office in the UK or the factory.

It’s not uncommon to have to tweak a pipe cleaner to pass a bent pipe but if you’re not happy just send it back. If you have an issue with the dealer Marco at Novelli is the US importer.

Dang, sorry to hear that, Claude. That is disappointing. I've owned a few (not a lot) Dunhills over the years, and haven't had a problem with drilling, etc. Having some weirdness with the Cumberland stem on one right now, but that's the only issue I've had, so I think your replacement will likely be a good one.
Hope all goes well.
(No idea on the email addy.)

I received the pipe today. Believe it or not, it does not pass a pipe cleaner. I am flabbergasted, not to use another term. I've had five Dunhills. Three straight billiards, a zulu, and a magnum full bent Shell Briar Collector. The only one to pass a cleaner was the full bent. I've come to the conclusion that Dunhill quality is in name alone and not practice. They make good planters though.

I own four Dunhill's and all were perfect out of the box. Pass cleaners easily, and smoke beautifully. I am sorry you had a problem like this. I purchased mine from either Smokingpipes or The White Spot( authorized Dunhill boutique (online). I was told by the White Spot (at least I think it was them) that Dunhill will replace the pipe from a purchase the first time no questions asked for any problem (second time around, well, not so). Your retailer should be able to handle it for you. Good luck.

Whooo... Thank goodness!!! When I read the thread's title, I was just a wee bit afraid that you were going to report on a venereal disease.... I am glad to confirm that my fears were unwarranted!!! All kidding aside , I like the tobacco pipe...

“ I was told by the White Spot (at least I think it was them) that Dunhill will replace the pipe from a purchase the first time no questions asked for any problem (second time around, well, not so).”
So you have one chance at returning a pipe that doesn’t pass muster, and if they drop the ball on the second go around it is tough toenails for the consumer?
Sounds like a shitty way to do business.

Their warranty against defects such as burnouts, etc. stands for 2 years. This is a simple case of returning it (as I'm not satisfied) for a refund from the merchant as it has not been smoked. As a side note I also ordered a Cumberland 4108. It does pass a cleaner and it smoked wonderfully from the start. I'm very happy with it.

Mine's a Shell Briar, though.
