Maltese Falcon w/black coffee........ I've heard that Maltese Falcon is a very good English blend. How does it compare to others, like Yale Mixture, Scotty's University Professor, or C&D Byzantium?

Yorktown in my Old Dominion stack billiard, with two cups of coffee and morning meds...squirrels have found the bird feeder we have near our deck; it's reserved for the cardinals , but they're not likely to see another seed now... Sitting here ,tapping on my side of the French doors, and shacking my fist to run them off, I feel like the crazy old neighbor lady that everyone talks about! We had the squirrel problem, too, until I got this Audubon Society feeder that closes off the seed pan when anything with substantial weight touches the rail next to it.

Candy corn in a stained CG cob....then on to Blackberry brandy in a small Rhodesian. I've got to hunt down my supply of Candy Corn. I have enough of it cellared and I've really been on an ARO binge lately.

Took my coffee and pipes/tobacco outside with me this morning. Started with Haunted Bookshop in a cob. Moved on to Briar Fox, Six Pence and some more Haunted Bookshop, while getting some work and cleaning done in the yard. After dinner, more Six Pence in another cob. Now smoking Briar Fox in a cob. Hope everyone had a good day.

May 28th. Rain lingers this morning making for a cool start to the weekend. There may be low 50s, high 40s overnight for the next two nights which is quite chill for the time of year. Thankfully the cold front is moving quickly and normal temps are forecast next week(and more rain) So underneath the canopy in a fine heavy drizzle the first bowl of the day was Crooked lane in the Pete ebony 107 spigot. the bright Orientals are growing on me. I do find that good bowl technique makes or breaks this blend as a fast paced burn with tight tamping will send it to the bitter box. Might as well dump it. It also is a bit unhappy if left to go cold too long. As you all well know some blends sparkle with a rest after a good first light and some actually become sweetly pungent when burned halfway and sat three hours outdoors. I think we have a member who relayed a tale of a forgotten half bowl he lost for months, found, and of course in true Enthusiast fashion promptly lit it. He swears it was the tastiest bowl ever. Yet Crooked lane appears to dislike even a short unattended moment heading back to the bitter box once again. The story is not all bad for the delicate flavors will last to the bottom of a bowl when handled as required. I have a number of bowls I ran to the bottom. Funny to go for a relight only to find the bowl had ended.. So Crooked lane may get on my reorder list. It seems a fair weather blend (late spring to early fall) as the power level is too low for cold weather bowls. (old joe krantz is my new cold blend along with kelly's coin. of course I have a few more taster tins to get through before I build a true list of primary blends. lancer slices, ojkranz, kellys coin, raw semois, sparkplug, temple bar, blockade runner, pennington gap, adagio, hood canal, missippi mud(spc). and thats all I can recall at the moment. several of those are for cold where flavor is washed out by the cold and the rest are flavors I like in good power levels. I find the more flavor there is the less power needed and vice versa.) Anyhoo, it is a holiday weekend with two scheduled group rides in what may be perfect conditions so all there is left to do is decide which blend and which pipe I am filling next. Hope your day is as pleasant!

Good Morning, all. Cool and rainy weather is keeping me indoors, at least for the next few hours. Starting the day with a MM Washington Rob Roy filled with Haunted Bookshop and a cup of coffee.

greets & happy TGIF to those affected. Earlier, usual full 2-mile power walks, company of no-band 6x42. Just beat the rain. After the Ed is fed, Abingdon in old Nording freehand & continue with the papers. Indoors "busy" as usual, then later afternoon doings involving groceries etc.
44, steady rain, lucky if hits 50

A thoroughly delightful bowlful of Newminster 52 Ultimate English (thanks to terrapinflyer) in my Grabow freehand. It looks like I now have another absolute favorite tobacco! It has a slightly sweet room note, the right amount of Latakia, and is quite tasty
