I smoked my fair share in the 70's and 80"s, but I don't miss it...glad I don't as a CDL holder it would red-line me permanently. The stuff nowadays has the potential to be paralytic compared to anything I have encountered in the past.

A product of forming opinions from watching movies and tv. Once I was lunting around my neighborhood when the High School kids were walking to school. One gave me a look that said he couldn't believe I was smoking weed so clearly in the open (still illegal here). Passing little kids one asked me, 'Is that a pipe?' No, it's a clarinet you poor uneducated lout. Like Darin said, obviously ignorant of both cultures. PS Weed shops in legal states don't even sell wooden pipes anymore, they're all glass ones. I'm presuming it's to smoke the new form of weed, shatter, which looks like cooked down weed crack, or peanut brittle without the peanuts. Better to use a dab rig for shatter instead of a glass pipe.

Just one "bout" with it, back in late 20s. Finished a bong of adv good Columbia. Promptly fell asleep for couple hours. Total waste of good money; pre good pay railroad job days. Respect those to do it with good results

I presumed incorrectly. If I get bored enough, I'll look up dab rig. I'd also like to congratulate drugs, for winning the war on drugs.

Yesterday afternoon I was sitting on my front porch smoking. There were a couple of carpenters working at a neighbor's house. They made a couple of comments that indicated they thought I was smoking marijuana. The pipe i was using was clearly a tobacco pipe (quarter bent Rhodesian). I forget what tobacco I was smoking, but I'm sure it didn't smell like weed. This made me wonder if my neighbors think I'm smoking marijuana, and also how many of the people who walk by think so. It's not a real big deal -- cannabis is legal in my state -- but it still bugs me. What really baffles me is how they could mistake an obvious tobacco pipe for a marijuana pipe.
That's hilarious. Years ago I had the same experience. On break, I thought I'd pop round the back to have a quick smoke. I had with me a quarter bent prince, as I recall, and was smoking a rather aromatic blend I favored at the time. It smelled nothing even remotely like pot. Still, some nosey neighbor with too much time on his hands thought he was going to bust this long-hair and confronted me right there on the worksite premises. I just gave him a funny look, and told him pointedly that he didn't know much, showed him the tobacco, and he left with his tail between his legs.

Ok, so I looked up dab rig. Holy cow, it's complicated. One of the main things I like about smoking pipes over cigars is the ritual; it's not just light and go, so maybe if you dab you get into that. Here's some examples of how to use a dab rig. You'll need: - a water pipe
- nail
- blowtorch!
- concentrates
- dab tool
Then you need to season your nail. Smear concentrates around the nail and allow them to vaporize. Use tongs to dunk the nail into water. It goes on. Sheesh. I thought smoking flake took some learnin'.

Nope. I’ll pass. No reflection on any of my good buddies on this forum, but all of my interactions with regular pot smokers have been negative. Not from their immediate reaction to the joint itself, but just their general approach to life.

Sounds like you just hung out with the wrong crowd to me. Many of my friends over the years that smoke have been upstanding, contributing citizens. Doctors, military officers, policemen, firemen, etc.

They made it legal here in Nevada a while ago. Heck, most things are legal here in Nevada. Anyway, I digress. My wife likes it, mostly helps her with her cancer. Also doesn't have to take many narcotics any longer.

Also doesn't have to take many narcotics any longer. That's the way I look at it. It would ease my old joints and relieve the non specific anxiety that comes with old age. Now it's legal just 26 miles away. I just wish that you could but good old dirt weed without all the fancy high potency stuff.

If you're saying it's legal in Louisiana, watch out. Recreational is still illegal, with mandatory sentences. Medical is kinda legal, but you have to be diagnosed with having one of fifteen ailments, and a doctor can't prescribe weed, only recommend it, and it has to be oil, pills, liquids or topicals, not buds you can smoke. In June of 2019 they passed a law allowing cannabis inhalers, but I don't know what those are.
The laws are changing though - in March Shreveport made first time possession of 14 grams a $50 fine or community service, but I think you'd have to get it illegally...

Or alcohol. We all know the 'Yeah, I looked for a job today, mom' stoner, but the weed's a symptom, not the cause.
I knew a pastor who really wanted to meet this strange guy who said thank you! when you handed him a JOINT!!! because stoners can't be polite or something? There are many people from all walks of life that have, or still smoke stuff.
There's a quote that says something like: 'Moderation in most things'. A lot of folks don't understand why we have the filthy habit of smoking tobacco. Ew.
