Since we were just talking about cumberland stems… Pegasus River in my RobE blasted Billiard. Although this stem material is referred to as SEM which I believe is the name of the manufacturer in Germany. For cumberland stems, the material is actually called brindle but the name cumberland came to be used after Dunhill first began using brindle on their Cumberland line of pipes. That line got named after Cumberland Road where the Dunhill factory was located at the time.

Had some Sir Walter Raleigh in a cob. I have fond memories of my Grandfather, who always had a pipe going. I thought he smoked SWR, but did not get that old familiar aroma. Might have to try SWR Aromatic. SWR wasn't bad, but did not trigger the memories I was hoping for.

Evening, all. Away for a few days. Pipes saw a fair bit of action. Focus was on Haunted Bookshop, Three Friars, PS Navy and Grand Croupier Double Down. Now, finishing up some Haunted Bookshop in a cob. Hope all had/having a great weekend.

Getting near the end of this bowl of Six Pence that I'm smoking in a black, wire-rusticated Dr. Grabow Berwyck Dublin. Catching up on what I've missed the past few days.

Ted, you would've felt at home there. Several of the extended family made time after the rehearsal to play a round. They were all impressed with the course. Lots of water, a few island greens... I guess it was pleasantly challenging. On topic, some GLP Cumberland in a MM Washington Rob Roy.

Packed my pipe last evening with some Stokkeye Naval Flake, a batch from a little over a year that I had cellared. Took a long time to put my daughter down that evening though, and by then I was exhausted, quickly went to sleep forgetting about my pipe. Woke up, took the pipe with me to work, bought my coffee and lit it up. It smoked perfectly. Everything was perfect. I relit my pipe only once, and that was because I had absent mindedly stopped puffing it. The bowl burnt cleanly all the way to the bottom of the bowl. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant drive.

That Cramps pipe is a really good smoking pipe...I don't give it as much love as I should...so I'm gonna fire up a bowl of Stonehaven in it...and tell it I love you, too.

Esoterica Stonehaven. Big gift from a swell guy in the threads. First time I have tried it. Very moist even in a zippyloc that came in the usps during the sweltering Georgia heat. I took some advice from a few of you here and nuked it for 10 seconds, I got scared. Took it out and it smelled so delicious. But it was 'Gawaith Wet' and I was impatient. I loaded it into my savinelli rusticated bent billiard. Lit that sucker up and was amazed. I had to wick the pipe twice. Ill let it dry naturally next time fully. Im such a newb. I still can not properly express what it is Im tasting when I smoke a blend. It was smooth, smoother than St James Perique. It was sweet, I'm assuming because of the sugar crystals coating the flake. The nic hit was mild but left me satiated. I know only one thing for sure, like so many others, Im hooked. To bad its so damn hard to get. Again I want to thank a real generous member for this hard earned experience.
