Angle grinder delivered yesterday. I mounted it to the work bench. Will make stummel shaping a little easier.

I have nothing coming to me in the mail. I have all the tobacco I need so I haven't bought any in years except a few tins of something old.
I would have more pipes in the mail if Jack Howell finished my commissions. Unfortunately he is back to his real job as a clarinet player with the Pittsburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
I feel so left out. The last things I bought were BJ Long Pipe Cleaners and a bunch of bottles of Obidisian stem oil.
Those purchases are just maintenance things and I don't count them towards Pad or Tad. I look at hundreds of pipes every week and so far I have found nothing in my price range that comes close to any of my Jack Howell or Rad Davis pipes.
I recently had one of my investments pay off and the money is burning a hole in my pocket. I hate not having something in the mail, there should be laws against this.

2 more tins of C&D Small Batch Palmetto Balkan 200g tin of Druquer and Sons Red Lion The Palmetto Balkan is very reminiscent of a good ol' Balkan mixture and should age very well. I needed a few to put away for years. The process to turn the Cyprian Latakia into something more wine like and closer to Syrian Latakia is a reasonable facsimile right outta the gate. Color me impressed enough that I bought 2 pounds of it before it's gone.
EDIT: One other odd note here about the Palmetto Balkan after several bowls. It's been reminding me a lot of a much, much better Frog Morton Cellar. I know this sounds really odd to some, but there's some very faint hint of vanilla spice deep down in here but it's smoother, better cut, and frankly far better than Frog Morton Cellar ever was, far more subtle. Faint hints of baking spice/vanilla and lighter and smoother Latakia. Currently smoking a bowl of as I type this.

Not really pipe related--except it is a place to park my butt and smoke. While replacing rotting deck boards, touching up patio furniture with Rustoleum, etc., I decided I would treat myself to a new swing. It has a little console that flips down to hold one's beverage...and/or pipe related stuff....

That brings my stash to 4 tins of Palmetto Balkan. You know damned well the C&D whore had a dozen friends order up PB in order to circumvent the 2 a day per customer limit.

Just the 4 tins here. Not more than a few blends where I cellar more than 2 pounds of it.

Hmmm, I think I can see the FMC parallel, but the Orientals are noticeable in Palmetto Balkan and, of course, there are none in FMC. Some far, everyone who has sampled out of the jar that I’ve been passing around has liked it. I picked up my second 2 cans from Ivan Aries at the Show today.

I came to the Chicago Show thinking I’d buy a pipe or two. Um, well, heh, ah… I bought six. But they're all great adds to my collection. I bought a six pipe rack yesterday because I already had a couple pipes past my current rackage. I guess I am shopping for pipe racks tomorrow. In addition to the pipes, I picked up two more cans of Palmetto Balkan. beardedmi has pointed out to me that I bought the same pipe six times.🤪😂 The pipes are (top to bottom): - Kaywoodie Super Grain small Billiard (group 2 sized; new production, literally, Graywoodie picked it up at the factory 4 days ago.) - Hand Made by Erik Nørding Canadian grade 0 - Danish made Stanwell Hand Made 56 Canadian - Unsmoked Danish made Stanwell Flame Grain 03 Billiard (probably 1990s) - Unsmoked 2008 Dunhill Amber Root 4103 oval shank Billiard (still had the inner tube) - Unsmoked 2015 Luciano bamboo shank blasted Billiard (the most Danish looking Italian made pipe I’ve seen. Bought from Sally's (The Pipe Tart) personal collection.) I forced myself to pass on the $2,300 Eltang Snail grade Ballerina and a couple of $6,000 Sixtens. 😉😂

Nice pick up John. I look at pipes on websites a couple times a day. If I went to a show, it would be nearly impossible to simply look. Seeing them in person and holding them? I'd go broke. That Stanwell (#4) is my favorite out of the lot. How's Josh ( beardedmi) doing? I haven't heard from him in years. He sent me SG, told me good luck finding them, and disappeared

So, we get to see each other regularly.

After running low on cash and consulting with my CFO regarding the use of plastic and skillful negotiation of a package deal from a dealer that I am a regular customer of, I can now say that I did not only buy Billiard family pipes here at the Show: - Erik Nielsen bent Bulldog - David Huber Coffee Bean I also bought another pipe rack.

Even at Columbus last year which was my first show in 2 years. But, here in Chicago, I saw dealers who I haven’t since since Chicago 2019. For example, there is an estate dealer named Jesper who comes over from Denmark. I always shop him for Stanwells as he has stuff you don’t often see in the US. That’s where the two Stannies came from. I can rationalize this all day…. Instead, my phone and hearing aid charging is done. Time to grab a bite to eat and return to the smoking tent for one last evening.

Hey, cheaper than a trip to Vegas and you get to come home with stuff! The Show is officially over as they shut the tent down at 12:10. It was a great time even though it was a reboot year and attendance was down 1/3 to 1/2. If you can make it to the Show in 2023, do so!
