Had not ordered from Mars in so long I had to use wife's Visa. I have one but it has not been activated had the new card for about a year. And yes she knows about it. Not a huge amount just a couple of this and that type thing a little over a pound I think or maybe two. I buy very little bulk tobacco--primarily tins. Invariably, most of the major online retailers include a tin or two in every order that looks like the forklift operator ran over it. The gentleman at Mars has NEVER sent me a banged up tin. Really--NEVER!!! I am about to place an order with Mars myself later today. |

Mars is a great retailer, but I had a bad experience buying a blemished Corona old boy (great price) with them, it never worked, and we sent it back and forth several times when they insisted that it worked for them. By the time it was all said and done, i was out shipping costs X3 to get my refund from the original purchase.
Having said that, I would buy from them if they had anything I wanted other than an old boy.
I am pretty lucky, I have only received a few dented tins from any retailer, never a compromised seal.

I found a birth year Peterson that I like the looks of. It is a silver banded meerschaum that appears to be roughly similar to an x220. It should arrive early next week.

I had fun evening at Arrowhead Pipe Club this evening. I finally got tired of seeing these on the shelf at Paul's Pipe Shop and nobody buying them. I guess nobody bothered to picked them up to see the 2013 date code. 🤷♂️ I did leave three or four more on the shelf, but if they’re still there in a few months…  |

I have nothing in the mail and it is quite depressing. I need no tobacco. My favorite pipe carver who I recently did 13 commissions with is back at his real job. The last thing I ordered were pipe cleaners and Obidisian stem oil.
I have to admit this is fucking depressing. I look at pipes all day and night and rarely find anything that floats my boat. I am pissed I have nothing in the works.

A 19th century meerschaum arrived today. The pipe itself was likely elaborately carved, then broken and re-carved into it’s current form, but I didn’t get it for the bowl. The pipe is large, about 9” long and has a big, fantastically carved amber stem which is what I wanted.   I also got these to put away:  |
