Got them at smokingpipes. Pete, are the dimensions listed on their site about the Ferryman accurate? The bowl dimensions are accurate. The overall length on mine is just under 6 inches long. FYI, the bowl is a 5th Ave. Diplomat.

A paint can of HU Makhuwa got here two weeks ago, and I'm just now taking time to thank username{ Michael }for this blend of burley, Virginia, and Perique...shame on me, and many thanks Michael. The leaf is very good quality, and it's a lovely mix, with color ranging from medium brown to golden yellow, and the aroma from the can is nearly mouthwatering, but like Michael, I found that the aroma doesn't carry over into the smoke when lit. It's very, very mild, but I have High hopes for it as a mixer. Thanks so much for the timely package, that arrived the day after my Birthday!

Ordered a couple tins of Cult Blood Red Moon from that P&C sale. Threw in a pouch of SWR and one of Half & Half. Never tried either of those.

Soon, my mail box will be inundated with registration number era Stanwells. In the last 48 hours, I've come across several pipes which just had to join my Danish Stanwell collection: a reg # Golden S shape 22, a reg # Silver S shape 63, and a probably unsmoked reg # bamboo shank Billiard.
For those not familiar with Stanwell, the Golden S grade was a gold stem logo inlay and was absolute top of the line but so rare as to be mythical. I've previously only ever seen pictures on Pipedia of one other Golden S. The Silver S is the next step down from Golden S and has a silver stem logo inlay. While rare, they can be found as this will be my third Silver S. This is also my first Stanwell bamboo. So, a huge upgrade to my Stanwell collection.
Pictures to come when they arrive. Could be a bit as the Golden S is coming from Germany, but the other two are just coming from the other side of Lake Michigan.

Most of those older Stanwells (pre sale of the company) were carved by Tom Eltang.

Most of those older Stanwells (pre sale of the company) were carved by Tom Eltang. Sorry, but that is not accurate. Only in a few special cases did Tom carve any Stanwell pipes. Tom did design many standard Stanwell shapes. He is second only to Sixten Ivarsson in the number of Stanwell shapes designed. After a very short apprenticeship at WO Larsen, Tom apprenticed under Anne Julie from 1974 to 1977. Then he worked for Pibe-Dan from 1977 to 1980 when he went independent. Then, he started to do some work with Stanwell. Mostly, it was either shape design or going on tours of pipe shops where he would do demonstrations of doing the final finishing steps on Stanwell pipes. These would be given Tom's original "TE" stamp in addition to the Stanwell stamps. The Tom Eltang article on Pipedia (https://pipedia.org/wiki/Eltang) is good, but it does not have his Stanwell timeline quite accurate. The most accurate and extensive description of Tom's early career and his involvement with Stanwell is in the book "Tom Eltang: It's Good to be a Pipemaker". "Older" Stanwells is a matter of perspective. To a Danish Stanwell collector, "old" Stanwells are from the registration number era of the 1950s and 1960s to early 1970s. 1970s post-registration number to late 1990s is the middle period and the late period is then until production switched to an Italian contract manufacturer in 2009 when Stanwell lost it's Danish-ness and, more tragically, the Stanwell briar stockpile in Denmark was sold off.

If you happen to still have a link to it, I'd love to be able to see the pics from the original listing since the Golden S is so rare to see. I tried searching done listings on eBay, but couldn't find any Stanwell Golden S except for the one that I just bought. I did find a Silver S 124 9mm which was auctioned off back in May.

Two of the Stanwells that I ordered arrived in the mail today. 😎 First up is an unsmoked(!) registration number era Stanwell Bamboo Billiard. When I showed it to my wife, her comment was “how could anyone have let such a pretty pipe go unsmoked?” A full set of pics can be found in this album: imgur.com/a/EatPS00
