I thought you were reading the one from the "Archers Tale" series. That's a great series too. Maybe it's Grail Quest series? I have not seen that one but will look for it when I have finished the series I am on now. Next one is "13XX", Crecy and Poitiers, I assume. Crecy, same song, 1st verse.

The Tomato Festival Cookbook, lately.
About finished with The Difference Engine by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling, which has been boring as hell.

“12 Rules for Life” by Jordan B. Peterson Yes! He makes several (at least twelve) good points in an easily grasped and entertaining way. And not simple minded points either. Just started the second book in that series called Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for LIfe He is a lightning rod for controversy, but I think that is because he thinks his own thoughts and expresses them, rather than taking the temperature of the wind and deciding whether to follow, or bloviating just to be noticed. I also think there are those that don't like his clarity, because it leaves little ambiguity. He is hard to misunderstand, whether you agree or disagree.

I didn’t agree with all his ideas, but it did cause me to think about quite a few things more deeply than I had done before. I probably won’t read more of his writing, though. Life is short and I have a huge stack of reading to get through.😉

Finishing Julie Gregory, Sickened: The True Story of a Lost Childhood, 2009. A memoir of the victim of factitious disorder/Munchausen by proxy. Quite sad, but also darkly humorous.
I'm already dipping into the new Stephen King. It's a guilty pleasure, but King keeps me busy with a couple thick tomes a year. At least it's not crack. Or 50 Shades.

Read Leo Tolstoy's Where Love Is, There God Is Also. The Three Hermits, & What Men Live By are next. These are his lesser known, later in life Christian gospel stories. I've read Anna Karenina, unabridged 12 years ago and a couple others, but never these.
Still slogging through towards the end of The Difference Engine very slowly. Seems I barely read a few pages and I put it down, do something else, or read something else.
Picked up a ton of Ray Bradbury's short stories in one collection, as well as his A Graveyard for Lunatics.
Picked up Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime And Punishment because I can't find my copy of that, or of The Brother's Karamazov.

Obery Hendricks, Jr, Christians Against Christianity, 2021. Evangelical Christians. I'm just taking small bites at bedtime. I've read quite a bit on the subject, so there's little factual information that's new to me. It is interesting to read his arguments, though, as he is a Bible scholar and clergy person.

I am reading, finishing up, North Water, by Ian McGuire. I have not yet seen the five part mini-series.
The book is great. Which only means it is the kind of book I like.
But I bring it up because there is a significant amount of pipe smoking, though no attention is paid to it. It is just a feature of many of the characters, to smoke pipe, and to carry a pouch of tobacco. A feature like the ice, the whales, the cold, and the ship.
If you like sailing stories with really evil bad guys and compromised but effective good guys - many of whom smoke pipe, you will like this book.

I read the first several books in the series, but after awhile I lost interest.
