Thank you for sharing your pictures Kevin. I have always had a fondness for some black and white photos.

Great pics. Kevin...you've really gotten in to it. Really wonderful to be able to control every aspect of your shots.

I was into Lomography a few years ago. I remember that those cameras were popular for that. I've still got a Lomo around here somewhere. If you get into it, you can get your feelings into the shot. I know this from others work, I never got good at it.

Composition is about achieving the best way to see the subject. It’s as much about Exclusion as it is about Inclusion. More, maybe.

I know this from others work, I never got good at it. I think there are devotees of lomography today that use old 35mm cameras that have not been serviced or restored, have bad aperture control, etc. I think the Japanese are even making a new camera with those qualities for that market.

Where Pam and I was married. Nice one here. If those stupid wires weren't in the pic, no fault of yours of course, this would be stunning. As it sits, damn fine work and a lot going on that you captured.

Excellent job of simplifying the image and removing the extraneous and distracting! What did you use to do it? ‘Remnants’ remain but an excellent start.

Good job on the editing. That was my job for many years. I used Photoshop of course. You should be able to keep working it until you wouldn't know it's there.

Hopefully, eventually I will get good at it. Photoshop is pretty expensive now a days. They have a subscription model. Plus I don't have the time to devote to learning it. I'll just keep fiddling with the cheaper programs and see what I can do with those. The program I used is rated pretty good, just need to learn it better. It was a quick edit job I did so I could see what it looked like without all the extraneous stuff in the picture..

You could try GIMP, Kevin, if you're so inclined. It does most of the same things Photoshop will do. Not as intuitive to use, for me at least. But it's free.

Yeah, I'm lucky that I have a copy of PS 11 I think, but it's before the subscription model.

Painters used to have the advantage over photographers when it came to modifying subject matter. Wires in the way. Just don’t include them in the painting. But now photogs have programs at hand that can do almost anything we want. In the old days laborious burning, dodging, masking could accomplish some of this, but the range of possibility was limited. Literalists might say (and do!) that this is a perversion of photography, but this is absurd IMO. “It should be recorded just as it occurs in life!” Really? Picasso was once accused of being “non-realist, unlike photography!” He asked if the accuser had a photo of his wife. Yes, he said and produced a picture of her from his wallet. “Very nice,” said Pablo. “But how can you have a relationship with such a tiny woman?”

Took a while.
