Drove a thousand miles traversing the southwest, I came across a patient in the Ute nation, TOWAOC that was in physical distress, collapsed on the floor.... quite rewarding to help a person out. No heroics on my part just happened to be there eat the right time to get the oxygen hooked up.

We spent the weekend with our daughter and son-in-law in Cleveland. Sampled the tobaccos and whiskey brought back from their trip to Ireland and Scotland. Enjoyed good food and company.

Last month, I had a flat tire on a similar road, I was in a 10 wheeler and the tire was staying put, so I rode it 200 miles to civilization. Rear axle outside tire sidewall blowout, I told the boss that where we go, recaps should not go. If it was a catastrophic failure, I would be dead on the road that has no turnouts. Hopefully warnings are heeded going forward.

I stopped by RJ's Cigar lounge on the way home tonight. It's on my way home so as of last week I try to swing in when I have the car. I enjoyed a bowl of PS navy flake in my Kaywoodie Bulldog. Friendly place with a n nice atmosphere.

Y’day we were forecast to have 109° and since my immediate around-the-house area was starting to look a bit shabby I got out early and managed to mow the entire acre before it got too hot to be outside. As it turned out we only got 107°. Today will only be 100° or so and I have a newly mown grounds. Small victories!

I recall crossing the state on Interstate 80 in late July 1968. No air conditioning. Hot but not that hot!

105 in NE Texas today. Only 26% humidity which would be good news except for the lack of rain. The record from 1875 is 106.

The range of temps is large. So far, for me, -29 to 119°. 119 degrees in Nebraska? Does not seem possible. I agree. This was from my own weather system and not an official temp. The system was otherwise very accurate. Weather “pockets” can be extreme outliers.

Weather “pockets” can be extreme outliers. I do not doubt your observation at that temp, just hard to imagine how. Micro conditions certainly create outlier measurements.

Sitting around waiting for the Sun to come up.
Have to close and open irrigation gates and need some daylight. I am not one for stepping around in high grass and weeds in the dark here.

Had my annual wellness exam yesterday. My doc and I usually spend most of our time talking guns, reloading, and dogs. He has a German Wirehair and shoots three-gun comp. Told him about my diminution of sense of taste. Covid was his first guess but I said this had been going on for a year. He gave me a couple of hints of what I could do. I have been very careful to keep pipe smoking under wraps with med people, but I ventured “I should give up my pipe?” He replied, “No. Just don’t overdo it. I smoke a pipe, too. There aren’t many of us left.” Said he had an extensive collection of pipes. I was gobsmacked. No wonder I like this guy.

^^^ Sounds like the right Physician for you.
My Dad told me to always have a personal MD who is older than the patient. So my Dad kept his Doctor working into his 90s.
Me? At 71 my MD is 86. Good man, too.
