Good morning.
Note for all: Think before you react. Not everything that's said needs a reply. Argue less, understand more.

So you’re starting out this new thread by deleting my post. I guess a post count does count for more than time on your hands here!

Heading into to Taos as I was summoned by the Executive Director of the Taos Soil & Water Conservation District. It seems our irrigation system is a subject of interest by federal, state and county gubmint bodies. It seems I opened the can of worms Pandora stored in her box, the one which slid down the slippery slope!

The squeaking wheel gets the grease… OR… The tall poppies are cut first? Good luck. The earliest Christians meet the hungriest lions. Just received an email that the Interstate Stream Commission is now interested in giving us or lending us money. Created by Act of Congress in 1942, this commission is made up of the State Engineer of NM and of CO. Our water source runs through both states. Suddenly we seem to be very popular with the gubmint. Somehow, I keep hearing "Beware... beware... beware."

I got a call from the hall couple of weeks ago asking if I was interested in coming out of retirement.

Old Samurai adage— “In victory, tighten your helmet strings.” I am not feeling particularly victorious but point taken. I was told yesterday that there is no "Conservation Welfare". Nothing is free.

Looking out my French doors, at the northwest corner of my yard, I see two giant bunny rabbits munching on some clover. Meanwhile, in the southern most corner of that same yard, Buster the beagle, who lost his sight at age five, is completely unaware of them, as he looks for the right place to conduct his morning business. I'm puffing on some Granger, sipping my coffee, and waiting for him to catch a whiff of rabbit in the air, but so far number two seems to be number one on his mind...Friday must be a lucky day for bunnies, I hope it's lucky for you too. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Got a splash of rain last night. Big deal? Well, yeah, after a month of back-to-back Red Flag days without so much as a thimble of moisture. 10-15% humidity and 50MPH winds tend to make us hereabouts a wee bit paranoid. Plus we have a forecast of 90+° today, so a bit of rain may have arrived just in time.

Windy day per NWS. Gusts expected up to 80 MPH. Came back to house after filling sandbags for ditch maintenance. Blowing too hard to keep my official Ditch Rider Hat on my head.

A day like that I would be eating raspberries and cream, too. Here it is like the Oklahoma Dust Bowl of the 1930s. Howling winds and darkness from huge dust clouds as the soil is blown off of the desiccated fields and into the air.
