I remodeled the kitchen in the house we had in Houston in 1995. We put in a high end dual fuel range with 7 gas burners and 3 electric ovens. I had to pull #6 3+ground cable for a hundred feet through the attic. I'm sure glad that I'm too old to even think about doing that again.

After wrestling with 8 gauge and 10 gauge wire for a while, I was able to make a pig tail for the new-to-me range and connect it. Works OK, although the large burners are finicky and it goes into error mode. This is an LG electronic marvel, lol! Hoping to try the oven tomorrow. Pan grilled a steak and potatoes for supper on it! Fast heat up and HOT! I have a gas stove. Don’t care much for electric ones. Best of luck (and eating!) to ya! I much prefer gas ranges. Only LPG available here and I refuse to deal with that criminal syndicate. Natural Gas not available here.

Propane here. I’ve got a great driver who takes good care of me. Even slips me hefty discounts when I’m pretty sure he’s not s’posed to. My heat is propane as well.

It was a great kitchen and we never had a chance to use it as designed. We had planned on entertaining a lot, but everything changed. Friends moved away or died, we both lost our jobs, etc. But it was right out of a House Beautiful magazine. 54 square feet of granite countertop, 2 sinks, recessed lighting plus hanging fixtures and under-counter lighting. Custom mosiac tile floor. Sigh.

You can talk about the living room all you want, but the KITCHEN is the geographic and cultural center of the home.

Ted, let's hope you were not infected. If you were, then mild symptoms and a quick passage in isolation.

Is that the recommend course of Action in the states? In Northern Ireland, if we're in contact with anyone who tests positive, we are to continue as normal.
I'm headed to Lanzarote on Thursday so I'm praying I don't get anything before then or while I'm there.
I'm looking forward to grabbing some duty free tobacco.

If we die, we die. Not worth living in fear. You can tell the sheeple by their masks. Lanzarote gets warm in July, maybe you'll get a taste of Texas weather.

The home prices in Houston are out of sight. Our first house we bought in 1977 for 47k is now worth 500k. The next house that we paid 108k for in 1990 is now a million dollars. Because we moved at the wrong time we didn't get to benefit from the increases. The taxes on our last Houston home were $6k/year. The current owners are paying $48k. On the news I saw that to live comfortably in Houston you have to have a net worth of $950k. The average family in the US has a net worth of $121k. And the current owners completely gutted the kitchen and ripped out the newly refinished red oak floors. The middle class is dying.

That $47k in ‘77 would be $220k now. The rest is “market.”

Especially those with compromised immune systems. Why would that make them subject to ridicule? It is a choice not a mandate, right? I have neighbors who are 102 and 97. Both wear masks in town, both to continue on living. If they believe a mask protects them, no business of mine.

I hear you, but I'm talking about young people, body builders and people in their 20s and 30s. I would never criticize an elderly or obviously vulnerable person for wearing a mask. Note that these people aren't even wearing the mask properly. They have them off their nose, or even on the chin. None of them are wearing N95 masks either, but the cloth masks that are proven ineffective. I wish you could see what I see. I'm thinking about wearing my "V" mask when we have to go to town.

That $47k in ‘77 would be $220k now. The rest is “market.” Yep. And taxes. They haven't cut the property tax rate in decades so the corrupt government of the cities, especially Houston, are raking in huge piles of money while the police and infrastructure are going down the tubes. Houston was getting a New York feeling starting around 2004 and it's much worse now.
