I hereby declare it JOHN WEEK. Rest. Relaxation. Good food, leisurely prepared. Early to bed. Absolute minimum of “work”— like, none. Pleasant beverages and long leisurely bowls. Consider it official! (Might be held over to next week too.) Thank you for the kind thoughts. The medication I am taking, Prednisone, seems to have killed appetite for food nad left me sleepless.

Thank you all.
1260 miles down today. Quick shower and nap at a hotel and I'll get the last 685 in a few hours. Going 5-10 over, if traffic allows it, knocks a fair amount of time off of a 2000 mile drive. When your late to work, 5 miles away, it does almost nothing.
I always say Im going to stop early, eat good and get plenty of rest, but day 2 on such a long haul SUCKS. I try to put as much road behind me as I can on day 1. I could have easily kept going, but it'll be daylight soon.
I prefer night driving. There are less idiots on the road, and checking for lights in my mirrors is easier than watching for the arse hat going 100+ and weaving.
The only thing I hate more than someone riding my arse, with their lights in my windows, when there are open lanes, is a truck driver who thinks he's going to pass 4 other semis in the left lane. But doesn't realize he's only going 1/4 mph faster than the other ones. 20 minutes, and a line of 10 cars later, they finally make it.
It was a good drive today. I hope tomorrow is the same.
Time to nap.

Everything that you said Josh is spot on… with the commercial driver, I am extremely critical. If your truck lacks the stones to pass anyone decisively, you figure out what the truck in front of you is governed at, back off to leave plenty of room and match their cruise control.
Back when most of the trucks had cb’s you would be ostracized for doing so, and everyone that passed you would be looking at you for the idiot you were, if not verbally.
I did that once when I was young, and learned from it.
When I hang it all up, I will be glad to do so.

It is a cool 69 degrees out this morning and I am working from home so I began my day with a bowl of C&D Constellation. Now I'm at my computer getting ready to begin my day with a cup of coffee and a plate of pancakes my wife lovingly made!
I'd say this is a pretty good way to start a Monday, or any day for that matter.

Today, whilst still in recovery mode, I arounse at 1320 hours. Long night. Two people came by to talk with me about my problems and how I can help them with theirs. Both remarked on my significant mental and physical decline. I hope things improve for you. I would take your visitor's comments about a decline in your mental state with a grain of salt, I've been following this forum for a few years and you always seem to be able to compose and express your self in a very intelligent way in your posts. I look forward to reading about some of things that you do. Of course as we age we all have "Senior Moments", myself included. In most folks situation it's just a natural part of aging and not terribly alarming. You have told us of some of your physical health issues and I know they make your life challenging, but I want you to know that I personally could not attempt to do the work that you do for the local water/irrigation system and to take care of the number of animals that you do! Any time you start taking a new medication allow yourself to have some down time in order to get used to it and get a measure of how it may affect your abilities. Report negative side effects the medication may cause to your physician. An alternative medication might be available that doesn't cause the side effect. For example my urologist prescribed Flomax for my enlarged prostate. It helps with my urinary retention issues, but it gives me a headache everyday. After informing my doc he changed my med to Rapaflo which does the same thing, but doesn't give me a headache. You definitely need to eat well, especially when taking medications. Lack of food in your system can make the effect of medications worse. I wish I were close by to drop by and check on you. I'm hoping you are able to rebound soon!

I havent been able to spend very much time reading through a lot of posts lately, life is just too busy. Since Georgia is incredibly boring, and I'm "laying low" while I'm here, I've caught up on a lot of stuff.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for being YOU. We have a mix of people from every walk of life, and somehow, we make it work.
We have a good group of folks here, and I'm incredibly thankful that I found this place a few years ago.
I disappear at times, but when I come back, I always feel like I'm amongst friends and FAMILY.
Thank you all!

With the cold front passing through S. Louisiana already, I'm experiencing a sinus headache today as well. It must be related to the fall ragweed stirred up by the winds or maybe the change in barometric pressure.

A smaller crop on top of our dam. I have been feeling bad for a few months and it gotten away from me.

Benadryl is bad for us older folks. It can dull your thinking much more than a younger person. I think it's prescription only in Europe. I need to wear a mask when I mow. I forget.

New battery, starter doesn’t need to be replaced, alternator suspect, found out 2 wire harness had been crossed, that’s why it wasn’t chargeing, bought a new battery every year for several years, then started jumping it off , Young man earned his pay. Very satisfied, hope I can say that when I get the bill !

Horses were all snorty and jacked up this morning. They get like that in colder weather. I get that with the missus, Dewayne… and the advice of a rancher in Hereford Arizona rings in my ears. “Treat her like a thorobred, and you won’t end up with an old nag.” So far it has worked.
