Kevin, maybe a day to celebrate the time you had with her.

I've been stressed for a while and picked up the disgusting cigs again a few months ago. I was outside today and Austin, my 4 year old, grabbed a butt out of the ashtray and put it in his mouth. I went inside, grabbed my 2 packs, broke them to pieces and threw them in the fire pit. Not having that.
Time to find his cob I gave him when he was 2.

That is how I stopped years ago. Just crumbled up what I had and threw them in the river. I had walked over to the store, bought my pack of Drum, with papers and had just rolled a cigarette. This was late in my college years. I thought to myself, “I will quit after this pouch”. Then a few seconds later, I got mad at myself and tossed them. Never had another. I went through a similar thing with leaf chew a couple of years back. It had turned into a several time a day habit and was affecting my gums. Stopped that, but do allow myself a pouch when I take my Spring rock hunting trip and the Fall fishing trip.

My hunters left y’day. The place got awful quiet. The lad took deer here, with his bow, at 8, 9, 10, but struck out this year. A true hunter, he was only mildly disappointed and mostly elated to be here and be “out there” really hunting. I miss him already. This year I introduced him to ammo-loading. He is gifted mechanically and mature for his age (11). It was great fun to watch him catch on SO quickly and even more fun to watch his joy when he made ammo from scratch and then used it to make steel clang at 200Y.
We currently have a coyote infestation and there are very few of this year’s fawns left. We will pay for that in future years. I’m in the process of prepping the long-range smokepoles to go after them. The kid wanted to stay and help. I wish he could have.

Life gets depressing when you don't see kids around. Children always lift my spirits. When I was a senior Scout I loved teaching the 11 and 12 year olds pioneering, rowing, knots, etc. Also taught marksmanship at the Boys Club.

Life's journey continues. Hitting the road soon.
Prayers, good vibes, positive thoughts... I'll take whatever I can get.
Things change, but what needs to change the most is myself.

Dark, cold (24 degrees). Winds are calm so we might get snow today.
Cold inside this morning. Fire blazing in wood stove. Soon it will be time to sit by it and work a crossword puzzle from NYT.

Today would have been my wife's 60th birthday. Can't believe it's already been almost a year since I lost her. Sure do miss her. Sigh. Thinking of you, buddy. Life's journey continues. Hitting the road soon. Prayers, good vibes, positive thoughts... I'll take whatever I can get. Things change, but what needs to change the most is myself. Safe journeys bro.

Well, we're in Mena. We've been looking forward to this trip for a while and after all the beautiful weather, it's raining. Took a preliminary drive through the mountains and clouds. Yes, clouds. Couldn't see very much. Hoping it will be better tomorrow.

Mena Arkansas was a hotbed of cocaine trafficking, and provided a lot of snow to the politically connected back in the day. Don’t be a mule, Ron.

Happy St. Crispins Day!
"That he which hath no stomach to this fight, Let him depart; his passport shall be made, And crowns for convoy put into his purse; We would not die in that man's company That fears his fellowship to die with us. This day is call'd the feast of Crispian. He that outlives this day, and comes safe home, Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd, And rouse him at the name of Crispian. He that shall live this day, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say "To-morrow is Saint Crispian." Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars, And say "These wounds I had on Crispin's day." Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember, with advantages, What feats he did that day. Then shall our names, Familiar in his mouth as household words— Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter, Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester— Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red. This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be rememberèd— We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day." Got my Zero Turn today, Home Depot freighted it to a Toro dealer in Youngsville, they gassed and oiled it, delivered it today, wanted a 60 inch cut, had to settle for a 54 inch cut because I wanted the My Ride platform that is hydraulic and takes the bumps a lot better. They don’t make a My Ride in the 60 inch cut!

Burning the lamp at both ends most of this week. Working my normal 8 hour day shift and then working maintenance window from 11:45PM-5:45AM. Fortunately, each night we're likely only working until about 1-2AM of that window. Wife and I are going to see the cantata Carmina Burana this Saturday evening in theater.
Andrew Constantine, conductor Brett Deubner, viola Fort Wayne Philharmonic Chorus Purdue Fort Wayne Chorus Fort Wayne Children’s Choir Soloists – TBD
"This raucous evening will take you on a wild ride, from the musical that launched Bernstein’s career to a world premiere composed by Fort Wayne native Patrick O’Malley, commissioned by the Philharmonic, and performed by violist Brett Deubner. Then, with its large, percussion-driven orchestra and mixed chorus that sings racy texts by wayward monks, Carmina Burana celebrates the joys of the tavern, nature, humor, and love."

I'm thinking tails and top hat. She won't lose you in a crowd. Do you have an opera pipe?

I do not, but I have recently come across a couple models, one being a legacy Savinelli opera that I wanted but didn't buy because it had a full size stem on it. Not that there's any smoking in theater houses anymore. Shame.

Back home from a 2 day vacation. 450 miles of beautiful scenery. We've never gone leaf peeping before and driving through the Ozarks in the wind and light rain was like being in a VanGogh painting. On the way home the sun came out as we drove through the Choctaw Nation.
