C&D's Orion's Arrow in a MM Pony Express. Anybody else here do the thing where you pack a bowl, and let it sit there for a day or two before getting around to lighting it? I haven't noticed if it's any different from just air-drying it a bit before lighting it. I like my tobacco dry, so much of what I smoke spends as much as 24 hours in what I call my" spill tray ". If I'm going to be in and out ,through the day, I'll sometimes fill two bowls in the morning, just to save time. When it comes to pipe smoking, what seems odd to one, may seem completely normal to another, and that's okay. Good to have you with us, Herb.

Very nice looking pipe. How's it smoke? When you're smoking horse shite, the pipe can only do so much. But if it smokes Merde de Cheval well, just think how well it would smoke with a good tobacco. 😁😉🤠

Amphora Original Blend in a MM Pony Express. That's a right tasty tobacco blend. Amphora Burley is truly special also; have you tried it? ... I'm smoking a spill-tray mix of Butternut Burley, Granger, and Cades Cove Cavendish, in a big,ole workhorse of a freehand, marked Kristi.

The past few days have been very busy but got a handful of smokes in. Sunday, I was on my way to visit my grandma on Mother's Day afternoon. While stopped 2 cars back at a red light at an intersection, a Chevy Avalanche slammed into an old lady who blew the intersection and turned left on a complete red light. Chevy plowed her crossover SUV 70-100ft up the road and then veered right and plowed through the car in front of me stopped at the light, which instantly sent them over the curb and blew out both back tires. Then, he came to a stop in the front right of my 2019 Nissan Altima SR and smashed out my front right headlight and took my bumper off along with some other minor damages. Still dealing with figuring out all the stuff with the insurance claims and it's taking too long. In the mean time, I've been transplanting tomatoes for a whopping 6-8 hours per day the past couple days, tilled up some beds, and repaired a large section of our privacy fence. Now a new couple gates are being put in.
I smoked a couple bowls of leftovers mixtures that were a decent mix of Yorktown, powder leftover of 2012 Frog Morton Cellar, Happy Brown Bogie, and I think a teeny bit of Big n Burley and Folklore. It was a couple bowls and tasted pretty great, actually. I'm currently smoking 7/2020 GLP Union Square in an MM Let Freedom Ring 5th ave with a dark orange swirl acrylic stem. I went and got a tin of Kodiak Premium Wintergreen a couple days back and have dipped nearly 1/4 tin of that while working.

Why yes, as a matter of fact! Truth be told, it didn't agree with me at first. Amphora Original was my first purchase since starting back up again, and I really enjoyed it, both in my little Stanwell, and the mini cob I got out of a basket at the B&M. So my first online order was a couple MM cobs (Pony Express and Legend Straight), along with the five-pack Amphora Sampler. Of those, I *really* enjoyed the Virginia Blend, which was the first of the five I tried - in the Pony Express. But when I tried the Burley Blend, in the Legend, I couldn't pull any good flavor out of it, *and* I got a bit queasy. As such, it sat for a while before I got back to it. Fast forward about a week and a half, and my next order came which included, among other things, a Falcon with a meerschaum bowl. In time, I decided to revisit the Burley Blend again, but with the Falcon. And *Holy Smokes*, what a difference! That particular pipe really brought it to life for me. Now, it's really one I look forward to, and I have every intention of ordering more when the time comes. As for the Legend, it really hit its stride with the Kentucky Blend. At first, I took the Dr Grabow paper filter out, which is how I used it until just a couple days ago. Out of sheer curiosity, I put it back in at some point, and found that, much to my pleasant surprise, I kind of liked it, too. This prompted a whole flurry of online digging, which led me to order a set of those Aldo Velani balsa wood filters. Turns out I like these even better! In all instances this was paired with the aforementioned Kentucky Blend. Of these two - the Burley Blend in the Falcon, and the Kentucky Blend in the Legend, it's a toss-up which I prefer. If I had to choose, I prefer the Kentucky whilst *doing* stuff, but the Burley Blend during end-of-the-day relaxation. Both highly recommended! I don't think I've yet heard of those tobaccos you mentioned, but I *have* seen a picture of a Kristi Freehand, and it looks delightfully gnarly in all the right ways. I'm also building up a bit of a spill-tray blend, with some of the Amphora Special Reserve Cavendish, a couple types of Virginia ribbons, roughly equal parts Latakia and granulated Perique ... I imagine it'll taste pretty English by the time I get to it. I'm thinking it'll eventually end up in the little Stanwell for that reason.

Threecobsandafalcon, I Purchased the 5-pack Amphora sampler at the last pipe show I attended. The C.O.R.P.S. show was held at the Sutliff factory, and two young Ladys were selling the samplers for a crazy cheap five bucks, but I was in my Goofy, pipe show Moad, and only picked up one package. I never use a filter in my cobs, but if I pull the trigger on the Mark Twain I've been eyeballing, I just may put a filter in it.

Interesting experience with the burley. Some people find it smokes better in a cob than in anything else.
