Occasional drop of rain and a cool south breeze here. Smoking Wessex Brown Virginia Flake in a BBB billiard. Keeping an eye on the disturbance in the northern Gulf of Mexico. National Hurricane Center only giving it a 10% chance of development, but it will probably be rainy for the next couple of days as a huge blob of rain drifts northward....

They really turned some fantastic pieces, in smokeability and aesthetics.

Sutliff Crumble Kake Barrel Aged No. 3 in a Pioneer calabash. When I first opened a tin of this in January, I thought it was really rough, but the time in the jar made all of the difference, really nice.

I'd describe it as a soft and buttery smooth Balkan mixture. I wouldn't necessarily say the specially processed latakia tastes just like Syrian but it is smoother and easy to see the comparison.

The #2 & #3 I've got cellared and giving them at least 1.5 years before I get to them. I smoked a whole tin of #1 fresh and it was one of the better red VAs released in recent years.

Been away from house much of the morning, medical reasons. Got walks in, shorter, no-band 5x50. Other exercise indoors thruout the day. After the Ed is fed, BB1938 in old Nording freehand & finish the papers. "Major" project later, remove A/C cover, all to have outside unit checked over, a tuneup, make sure thermostat at proper settings for summer use. Cover to cellar, hang over mini-clothesline. 2 cobs good choice for company, undecided baccy
55, a few clouds, to 62, no rain predicted
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY pipe/cigar since ??62
