Not in the mail, but I'm not making a new thread just to name it "What tobacco did you recently purchase or receive?" Stuff I picked up at the NASPC pipe show last night. All blends I've never had, and there was a disappointing lack of aged tins that I was searching out. The well aged tins were either astronomical, blends I didn't care for, or both. I found two tins of the Original GLP Renaissance and they were $90 a piece. Passed. A full tub of either late 70's or more likely mid-late 80's Balkan Sobranie for $400. LOL pass. One guy's table was selling every tin he had for $30 a piece, including tins with no more than 1-2 years of age on them and still in production! Lakeland Dark I've been wanting to try and Cabbie's Mixture, $30 a tin. Anyway, I came away with: 50g tin of Samuel Gawith 1792 Flake 50g tin of Solani Aged Burley Flake 50g pouch of Murray's Yachtsman Navy Plug 40g tin of D&R Rimboche A.P. 50g tin of D&R TAPS VIP 6 ounce tub of D&R Acadian Bright Perique 8 ounce bag of D&R Acadian Bright Perique whole leaf an 1881 D&R Perique Maduro cigar 2oz. 2004 House of Windsor Hine's Mixture T426 blend 4 ounces of Paul's Pipe Shop Arrowhead What I believe is 2 ounces of Lane Crown Achievement A brand new MM Country Gent that was made the day before I bought it a shirt pin and a pipe stand from Lane vendors and two Hydrostones for keeping jars hydrated. Also bought a raffle ticket from Scottie Piersel to win a 7 day cased pipe set from the Kansas City pipe show next month.

In the mail, a small sampler from P&C, very affordable thanks to their 20% off offer. Thought I would experiment with some new-to-me items.

I have an order of mason jars that are due tomorrow. Wolfman, I don't know if this will do you any good, as people like uniformity. I already have different shapes on jars and for the price bought four dozen of these. Not the same as my other 8 oz jars, but I actually like the shape, that they are squat, not prone to fall over. They don't stack one on one, but I pyramid. 5.96/dozen canning jarsI just saw your comment. Much appreciated and I'm going to order a set.

A member here who I will keep nameless, just overwhelmed me with a VERY generous sampling of various baccys. I'd have to weigh all 20 (yes 20) samples but my guess is close to 1 lb. Some I've never heard of, some I have, but never tried. Thank you to the kind person. It also proves once again what is great about this forum and the people who are here. And basically 99% of folks in the pipe community at large.

Is this an experiment, or a re-order? I couldn't resist and put a pouch in my recent order, but it hasn't arrived yet.

It does not overwhelm, though you can smell it through the pouch. It is pretty mild. I have yet to have a CB that I actually dislike.

Came today. Really don't think Briggs is up my alley, but when I looked up the date and it was about 80 Years Old. The barrel has a ceramic humidor thingy in the lid (didn't know when I bought). I may just let my kids sell it when kick the bucket. Tobacco looks great, btw.

I have to reply to myself for posterity and science... and the furtherance of the sport.
I have not broken the tax stamp and the tobacco is as pictured. It had little fragrance. I took some drops of water and hydrated the disc at the inside top and within two hours this smells like fresh tobacco. So much for my kids making any jack off (two words, no foul) of this. Next occasion I am busting loose!

LOVE the barrell humidor!
It's payday so I've placed my orders. The Country Squire has their hand-blended tobaccos on sale right now so I picked up 1 pound of White Rose (LOVE that stuff) 4 oz of Hunting Creek (aromatic English) and an ounce of Pirate's Alley (a VaPer)
From Smoking Pipes I ordered 1 tin of Corn Cob Pipe and a Button Nose (last year the idea of a hot cocoa tobacco excited me, this year, not so much. If I don't like it it will be finding a new home with Burl, lol), 1 tin of We Three Kings (I know I like this and my tin is almost empty), 1 tin of Golden Days of Yore (that one sounds very interesting) and 2 oz of Kentucky Cavendish. I wish I had remembered to add D&R AB Rimboche -- I smelled it at the Show but it was one hubby hated so I passed on it.

I got there right on time to walk around and scope out all the tobacco. Those aged C&D tins you showed me were a decent deal and I kind of looked over them as I was looking for extinct blend and well aged first. There was a guy in the back selling some tins from the late 70's tinned by McClelland for $250-400 as well for half pound tins I believe.

Man, why don't I come across stuff like that? I would have bought it just for the barrel. There were four for a while, then one for a while. I waited. The Briggs Barrel is available on eBay, empty, for a third of what I paid... many

One of those barrels of Briggs has been on Pipestud's for a while. I saw one at the NASPC show.
