Fascinating! In addition to the mystery white spot, might the military mount be also a repair? I ask because the shank seems abnormally short. Nomenclature?
The army mount is probably not a repair, because all of the nomenclature is "squeezed" into the gap between the silver flock and the bowl.
Nomenclature is in all caps:
PARKER'S SUPER BRUYERE MADE IN LONDON, ENGLAND 1(unreadable)
The unreadable second digit is either a 1 or a 4, suggesting a manufacture date of 1935 or 1938.
I have no idea what's up with that stem. It's plainly hand-cut, so if it's a replacement, it either cost a fortune, or came from a Dunhill that cost a fortune.
Thanks. Yes, that's a pretty good tell, that all the nomenclature is visible. Wonder if this adds any veracity to the notion of the closeness of Parker and Dunhill.

Was just about to post that Ive cancelled my bid for the Reverse Calabash (the Chinese pipe seller) so that other Patchers who might be keen to bid could go for it & I've just received a notification that the auction has been cancelled altogether.
I've noticed that this has happened before with this seller. It would appear that when a bid is low on the fancier pipes 24 hours before the auction ends, it's removed from sale.
It's worth mentioning that my last order of 3 pipes I was charged $11.99 for postage. The present order has a $28.99 (that's $42aud)postage charge. Yes, I've sent a 'please explain' message.

And almost 30 for shipping... where's to coming from, Madagascar?

The seller will adjust the shipping cost and give you a refund. The RC she had up for bid is still available and standing at $20.50. In three plus years of doing business with this seller the only pipes she canceled were those that were purchased by โ make an offer โ was accepted. So, Elric......happy bidding on the good looking RC๐๐๐

Not just 1, but 3 pipes today.
Thank you Ted and Jason!! I'll get pics up when I can wipe this smile off of my face and I can hold my phone still enough to take pictures.

First up is a gift from Ted @lonecoyote. Again, I had no idea what it was. I dont even think I would have known it was coming if I didn't have such a terrible day the other day. It's a perfect smaller bowled sitter. Perfect for these summer months because I don't sit outside very often to have a big pipe due to the heat. The tamper was included and both were in their own nice little pouches. You're generosity is 2nd to none and I greatly appreciate the gifts. You're a special man and one that I am very proud to call a true friend. (As always, the pictures do it no justice)

Next up is my 2 year sobriety gift to myself created by Jason Cramptholomew. This is actually the 2nd pipe that was made for the occasion. (The story will follow in the next post.) It is a nice tall bowl that is nothing short of perfect.

Awesome!
That pipe by Jason is absolutely gorgeous. You deserve it, man. I'm sure you will feel that much more proud of yourself while smoking such a pipe.
Congrats to you on your generosity, Ted.

Next up is the original pipe from Jason. I had no idea this one was coming. Actually, last night I sent him a message and asked about it again. I loved this pipe from the first pictures I ever got of it. It was just perfect. Late into the project Jason noticed a couple flaws in it and didn't want to send that one. Attention to detail and "anal retentiveness" are signs of a true artist and craftsman. I'm not gunna lie, I was really bummed. It was gorgeous. Well, I got home today and opened my box and there it was. My jaw hit the floor. You nailed these pipes man. I cannot thank you enough or even begin to explain how much it means to me. I was blown away by the 2nd pipe and strangley enough, it's the one I opened first so I really had no idea what the 2nd one was. I REALLY thought it was sitting in your shop!!!

A HUGE thank you to both of you. You're truly great people and I am happy to call you my friends (even without the pipes ). If you knew how small my friends list was you would know exactly what that meant for me. You've both made my entire year!! Thank you to everyone else for the compliments, but those should go to Ted and Jason. Now I need to go clean up my drool.... or add to it

roadsdiverged, I decided you were getting both when the first didn't turn out exactly perfect. You deserve it, buddy. Especially for the occasion you commissioned it for. We share that road, and I'm proud of ya. PhantomWolf, if you weren't joking, I'll be taking orders soon. I have a much needed vacation in a couple weeks, but I'll be open after that. PM me if you wanna talk shop.

Iโd get rid of my $600.00 Eltang Devil Anse if not for being a gift. My โ JB โ Cramps Stacked Nosewarmer I wouldnโt sell at any price, itโs one of my three best smokers. Just love that open draft......itโs like the pipe smokes itself.
Donโt let your head get swollen Jason.....you deserve the compliments on the craftsmanship and mechanics of your pipes!!!

That second pipe has beautiful Birdseye, the heck with a tiny sandpit. Thatโs a stunning grain, enjoy Josh Good on you Jason โ Cramps โ, nice surprise ๐๐๐๐๐ actually, it wasn't the pit that made me start over. I can live with pits, and sometimes celebrate them as they're truly part of working with briar. There's so much wasted briar, because of little pits, that I can't abide that waste. The REAL reason I pulled the plug was I somehow didn't get an EXACT fit between the blue and white rings. On one side there's a barely noticeable gap, but it was noticed by me, and I couldn't say "it's good enough". That's a terrible pipe maker's trap. NEVER just say "good enough".
