The army mount is probably not a repair, because all of the nomenclature is "squeezed" into the gap between the silver flock and the bowl.
Nomenclature is in all caps:
PARKER'S SUPER BRUYERE MADE IN LONDON, ENGLAND 1(unreadable)
The unreadable second digit is either a 1 or a 4, suggesting a manufacture date of 1935 or 1938.
I have no idea what's up with that stem. It's plainly hand-cut, so if it's a replacement, it either cost a fortune, or came from a Dunhill that cost a fortune.
Thanks. Yes, that's a pretty good tell, that all the nomenclature is visible. Wonder if this adds any veracity to the notion of the closeness of Parker and Dunhill.
There was certainly a time when a lot of Parkers were Dunhill rejects. I don't know if that time was 1935. And I sure hope there was never a time when Dunhill was sloppy enough to let a pipe receive both a white dot stem and a Parker stamp
I gotta wonder if an eccentric prior owner didn't just move the stem from a similarly-sized army mount Dunhill. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they used the exact same mortise diameters on similar Parker and Dunhill shapes, so there's no reason it wouldn't fit snugly...

Never a swollen head here, Ted. Too much anxiety for that to ever happen. My close friend back in NY suffers from “ SEVERE “ anxiety. All I can recommend is Klonopin.....he’s on a strong dose which helps most of the time. There are times he needs to talk to me on the phone, which helps him a lot. You never know exactly what brings on “ anxiety “ and MANY people just don’t understand the illness. I'm bad too. My phone permanently says "You are unable to receive messages Your mailbox is full" haha
I actually haven't left my room for longer than it takes to make breakfast for nearly a week now. It gets harder to leave, the more settled in I get and essentially only leave when a friend reaches down and yanks me out like a carrot.
For me to explain anxiety to my friends- It is like when you make your character in a game and choose your stats and most people only put 3 points into perception- Well I have 9 or 10 and it cannot be ignored. I hear multiple conversations at once in crowds. A friend will ask if I saw the fat guy in a funny hat at the club and I can tell him what he was drinking and what shoes he was wearing.
Beyond that, it is thinking about that stimulus as well as everything else in my personal life over and over in repetitive and broken thought routines that never resolve with a solution. They just build and breed and spin off repetitively like those little curls coming off of curls coming off of curls that I saw in a cool video about fractals one time or another.
Back when I was busy with work and a relationship, it was a gift. Now I'm just redlining in neutral in my driveway.
Cool Fractal Vid I mentioned. Skip to 13:00 for the part I referenced as well as a cool psychedelic rock song. haha

That is a great description of anxiety. It's one of those things that's really hard to explain to someone that doesnt have it.
I am in the same boat with yall.

My best explanation, and one of my first bouts with it: I was really worried about an email service cutover at work, and while installing some new servers in the data center it hit - "OMG, I have lung cancer", which my brain proceeded to tell me every day starting the minute I woke up, for months, even though I have/had no symptoms and my doc said I was nuts. I could hardly stand in the deli line at the store it was so overwhelming. It took the better part of a year to get over that. Meds finally helped.

This time it's not inbound mail, but outbound... just posted 3 Vauens and the Lorenzos to a local buyer. Got a pretty good return, considering I smoked them rather extensively. Been selling off my "beginner" collection since deciding to stick with Savinelli and Jirsa.
I will be replacing what was lost soon however, as I've (only recently) discovered that I can buy pipes directly from the Savinelli factory. The no-markup savings often come close to 80-100 EUR on the mid to high tier pipes.
Currently in talks about the price. I would like to match or at least come close to what I earned from the sell... looking forward to sharing the result.

Right on. I forgot to mention the irrational aspect. Sometimes all I have to think about is how I would like fish and chips from the south side and instantly I am mentally driving around the same block in a rush hour jam for the rest of my life- certain that I am just going to have to live in that part of town for the remainder of my days...
Sounds funny, but it isn't. it is like you said 'an irrational certainty'

Fractal Geometry can make anyone suffer from anxiety!!! What you suffer from as do many, including my friend is a chemical imbalance of the brain. Have you spoken to your doctor about some of the newer meds now on the market. Also......YOU NEED NOT STAY ALONE....be with family or friends. People that understand your illness, keep your distance from those that are clueless. What helped my friend when he first started suffering from anxiety and had no clue what brought it on, after about three years of barely getting through work, dealing with everyday life in general, his wife finally said “ I love you very much, I’m here to help you. But you also need to help yourself “! The next year was kind of rough on the marriage, my friend admits without the tough love then he would be much worse today.
He’s now on a low dose of Ritalin, which is used in conjunction with selective serotonin medications. It’s helped him quite a bit in the past three years. DO NOT let your doctor start out on a high dose of Ritalin, start low and find the dosage that works best for you. Wishing you much better days ahead.

Was just about to post that Ive cancelled my bid for the Reverse Calabash (the Chinese pipe seller) so that other Patchers who might be keen to bid could go for it & I've just received a notification that the auction has been cancelled altogether. I've noticed that this has happened before with this seller. It would appear that when a bid is low on the fancier pipes 24 hours before the auction ends, it's removed from sale. It's worth mentioning that my last order of 3 pipes I was charged $11.99 for postage. The present order has a $28.99 (that's $42aud)postage charge. Yes, I've sent a 'please explain' message. The seller will adjust the shipping cost and give you a refund. The RC she had up for bid is still available and standing at $20.50. In three plus years of doing business with this seller the only pipes she canceled were those that were purchased by “ make an offer “ was accepted. So, Elric......happy bidding on the good looking RC👌👍👍 How odd, I've received two cancellation notices; one on the RC & another for a bamboo pipe. Did the RC sell this morning & for how much Ted? I had a bit of a sleep-in & missed the auction.
The seller has sent me a message saying she sent a new invoice with postage at $28.99. I'll ask again for a readjustment but I don't like my chances judging by her response.
This is exactly why I usually ignore U.S. e-bay sellers. Tracked postage from Europe is usually around $10usd or less.

Send your message to Annabelle, tell her the guy from Knightdale, NC recommended you and PLEASE do better on the shipping cost. She will help👌👍👍 Take a look on eBay, that RC is still up for bid and standing at $20.50.

(Wonder why I got a notice saying it was withdrawn? (thought the auction ended this morning but it's got 21 hours to go) I'll spew if it goes for cheap. Just sent a message asking if she could do better (before I saw your above response) we'll see what happens.

It’s definitely a hand cut stem, I’m very familiar with this particular seller. Lady M, Next time you want to buy a pipe from this maker without bidding let me know. I can get you a better price......not that you did bad spending $45.00 on this Pot style pipe.👍

She will not reduce the price of postage. $18.99 + $5 for each additional pipe. $5 for wrapping a pipe in newspaper & putting it in the same parcel? Great. I have little choice but to pay. Hope she doesn't expect positive feedback.

Also, send her one more message telling Annabelle that a gentleman from Knightdale, NC in the States recommended you, as I did many others.

Also, send her one more message telling Annabelle that a gentleman from Knightdale, NC in the States recommended you, as I did many others. Yes she said that was a mistake & that there was no way she'd reduce the postage charge on this invoice. Postage + duty added up to under $10 less than the cost of the pipes. And yes, I mentioned you but it clearly did not sway her. I'm actually now glad that I missed out on that Reverse Calabash. It would have added close to $100aud to the invoice. The pipes better be good smokers. I get name brand new or lightly smoked professionally refurbished estates from Europe for much less. I'm wondering if any of these Chinese pipe makers have their own e-bay store? Chinese postage charges is so cheap that ebay sellers often offer it for free. I'm not bidding on any more through this ladies auctions.

Just found a buy-it-now bent Road Town Poker from a different seller for $29.99 - p&h $14.25
Charging extra postage for each pipe is a scam. My two European sellers post up to 8 pipes for the same price as one.

What I don’t understand is why she sold you 3 pipes prior and postage was $11.99.....thought that’s what you mentioned to me. She actually told you it’s $5.00 to wrap each additional pipe? Your better off purchasing estate pipes on the European market for sure. PS Leave bad feedback after 7 days. I will never purchase another pipe from this seller again!!!

I would've bought many more pipes from her otherwise. Short term gain for long term loss. Once I receive my pipes she'll get what's coming re; feedback.

elric.......file a grievance with eBay. Explain the other three pipes and shipping was $11.99. Now you feel your getting ripped off!!! DO NOT BUY THAT PIPE AND OTHERS FOR $5.00 each for shipping!!! Let the seller find out from eBay you filed a grievance......don’t you tell the seller.
