My biggest issue with CBK is that one of the toppings nips my tongue. Doesn't matter what I do... dry it, smoke it slow, it just doesn't agree with me. I believe it is the anise/licorice as I have noticed the same problem with other blends that contain it.

Perhaps not the best taste tester but I don't get any toppings from Watch City Slices so it may be more to your liking. Received 5 tins of Capstan Blue from Pipes and Cigars which were on back order that I'd forgotten about a long time ago.

5 more tins of University Flake and a couple different Black Cavs to sample from SP.com. I had some house credit there, so the original total hit the mark for free shipping, then when I applied the credit, my final total was about $20. Bonus!
1 lb. of Scotty's Butternut Burley inbound from P&C.com.
I think that about does it for my self indulgent Christmas shopping.

G' morning John , I am very fond of my Blakemar Aristocrat (rustic straight poker), it is a very traditionally well crafted truly classic pipe, which others imitate , with less style, I hope to be gifted with another perhaps, sometime , when I can choose the one to accompany my poker, & a Merry Christmas from me, in hopefully Merry England, bye......

Hey John, let us know how they are. Curious about their quality. G'morning Don, my limited experience, with my Blakemar Aristocrat ( straight rustic poker) , is they are of excellent quality, they are not Dunhills, nor Dunhills prices, neither are they Parker , which were acquired by Dunhills and are considered Dunhills seconds , & have cosmetic imperfections, I have read of some Petersons with smoking problems due to internal imperfections, mine does not have that problem, they are perhaps comparable to Rattray, in a way, before they were taken over anyway. They are an independent company as far as I know so they are not considered, seconds or merely a bargain product, like Parker or Rossi & they have an old lineage of meister craftsman work & culture in a way , but adaptable to modern manufacturing competitiveness. It may be going to far but they are perhaps comparable to original, traditional classics like Vauen or even Savinelli used to make, maintaining traditional design , craft and quality, not a Chippendale , but near enough. But it is difficult to generalise with my limited experience , but from what I have read about these companies and reviews I think my opinion is near the mark. Bye for now.

PS, I did notice that Blakemar are adaptable and offer to customise their pipes to fit 9mm filters on request if desired, which is very encouraging to me , for my future choices, lovely pipes... PPS. Check their quality informative website, it has a few interesting videos , for those that are interested in pipe making, and have not seen the professionals at work.

A new Peterson from their Sandblast Collection. According to what I have read, the bowls used for this line are leftovers from previous limited edition pipes or shapes they had an excess of in the warehouse. The place I bought mine from had pipes in this collection from the Explorers, The Writers, Sherlock Holmes, and others. The one I bought was the elusive B54. Only other place I have been able to find this shape was in the more expensive lines such as Roundstone ($188) or Rock of Cashel($170).
Found this one in a online store from England. Price with shipping was $87.04. I am really quite pleased.

Guess it finally happened - when I least expected it. Christmas morning I received an E-mail from Cup O' Joe's everything was 12.25% off store wide Christmas Day only. Not chasing anything anymore but thought I would check and Wessex Burley Slice was listed as available. I ordered 10 tins, got the discount and free shipping. Also know it was all they had because I initially ordered 12 tins and was turned down, lowered it to 10 and accepted - No apparent disconnect in their actual inventory and on-line availability. Just received confirmation it's in the mail. Fantastic Christmas present.

I ordered a tin of Peterson's Holiday Season 2016, thanks to Stan's sample that got me interested. Jim smokes EGR so often, that I also ordered a tin of that to try out. Finally, I also have a can of Sillem's Linea Epoque Antique.

I think you will find that the EGR makes for a fine frequent go-to smoke that will remind you of the best OTC good ol days... ENJOY!
