Ordered a measly 5 pouches of Five Brothers and a Kramer's Danny Kaye. I would run out of 5B by payday, so I screwed with the kids' inheritance again. On payday I am going to go big on 5B. Wish Iwan sold that so I could pick up some of his stuff with it. May have to do a phone call (dislike phones) to Uhle's to get some of those burleys that @10furlongs sent. I am out of those and they are really to die for, which I say a lot. I have so many things to die for, how come I want to live so much?

"Check out" is taunting me. Adding a few more is lingering in my mind as well. I'm still searching for that blend that just hits me and says "this was made just for you." That is the classic problem. The dichotomy of growth (exploration, discovery, courage) on the one hand and security (comfort, reliability, low risk) on the other. And it doesn't go away, in my recent experience, even after finding "that blend". I adore C&D Billy Budd Blonde, as is known by more than several around these parts, and it really is my home base blend. My go to when I want security and comfort. It does what it is supposed to, smoke after smoke after smoke. Still, I am very curious and always trying new things, with the hope that there is something even better as "my blend". My other blends are adventure blends, that I go to for something different, a little "strange", that is interesting but makes me more often than not appreciate my home blend. I grew up on the shore, and we used to put two hermit crabs and an empty shell in a large jar, and watch, as they over and over again tried each other's shells out or tried the empty one. Never satisfied. Old time smokers, like my dad, found their blend and stuck to it, occasionally trying someone else's tobacco now and then, but not generally changing. It wasn't a hobby to them. And that is where I learned about pipes. So while I appreciate trying new things and collecting knowledge and experience, I have to admit there is a "relief" in having a home blend to come back to when i don't want to "hobby", I just want to smoke. Good luck. I believe there is a blend or two with your name on it, and when you find it, I hope you have a similar experience of the deep relaxing relief that comes from not "having" to explore anymore. I still explore. I just don't have to.

My kids are in their forties. Oh, and I am not sure about enjoying "The Constitutional" as much as I used to but getting into some Fart Fights with Bully the Lionhearted can be rewarding.

Yesterday, I ordered a few more 100 gram tins of HH Burley Flake. .Today I realized my cellar is weak on burley. It's time to change that.

Wolfman what I did for my Burley is get some of the H&H Midtown Series tubs, like Chatham Manor, which I think is all burley. Also keep a tub of CH unopened. Those are the basics. I have some more exotics like Butternut Burley and J4 Burley

Sometimes you can get it at WV Smokeshop cheaper than other places, even with shipping. There is a difference between that and the match. Back in the Seventies there were only two tobaccos. Black Cavendish and everything else. I learned since then. There are so many I count all the way up to the third toe on my right foot. Wait, left foot

If I ever find an answer besides Catholic guilt I'll let you know. As far as I can figure it Joni Mitchell poses the question better than most:

Received in the mail from P&C five 50g. tins of Murray's 1921 Cunningham and three 50g. tins of Murray's 1810 Belfast. They also sent eight $5 gift cards for future purchases and a pouch of Drexel VIII.

P&C order:
Peter Stokkebye - Proper English (8 oz.) Had this in my cart at SP but they sold out, so did another another site.
SP order:
C&D - Pirate Kake (2 oz.) Sail - Original/yellow (1.5 oz pouch) [BoM] G. L. Pease - Gas Light (2 oz) 100 pack of pipe cleaners
1 lbs. of "Boneyard" no clue what that's going to be like, but for $15, it was worth a shot.

Perfect timing. Just as I'm back to serious smoking, the nice mailman brought me this. DW gets the little bag of candy; on the other hand, she hasn't eaten the first one I gave her. In fact she wasn't delirious with gratitude, so maybe...

Truer words were never spoken. At 75 the good crap may be every other day, but the good smoke is a daily need.
Right AJ?
