I, too, would enjoy owning one. I know someone in Taos who has one. Each year at the Electric Vehicle show in Taos he gives a report on his experience as a Tesla driver. He has taken many long road trips. As a Tesla owner he knows the location of all the semi-secret charging stations spread across the land. There are many. Being a Tesla owner is something like being in a secret society. Like the Masons. But, due to the cold, you wouldn't be able to use it half the year. Not to mention that 100 amp breaker. Korea has fined Tesla because the range is reduced by more than half in cold weather. Clearly, anyone affording a Tesla can afford a heated garage to store it in and an electric panel rated at more than 100 amps, I should think. Just as diesel engines require a block heater for cold weather, a Tesla should have a battery heater.

Power is out here, given that I use a CPAP it could be a long evening. It did, however, prompt me to finally order a couple of hurricane lamps and fuel, so that I would at least have enough light to read..

Still no clarity on my future living arrangements. I'm back in AR with the fam, again, after spending the early part of the week in a hotel. When I went by the property managment office Wed. morning, they said they'd have an estimate on repairs needed, etc., by the end of the day, and my apartment might be ready by Saturday. I have not heard from them, since. Sent them an email earlier today and got no response.
Picking up and moving is an appealing idea, but I'd have to have somewhere to move to. Every apartment complex in town got hit by this freeze, so there aren't a lot of available units.

For potential future outages, some of them will place your address as a priority location for power restoration when an interruption of service occurs due to your medical needs. Such flagging of an address has help me before where I live, since my next door neighbor's address is flagged for priority power restoration due to my neighbor's medical issue power needs. Since my neighbor gets priority restoration, I end up getting to benefit as well from living next door to them.

We both use CPAPs and it will keep them running all night. We planned on getting a whole house generator when we moved here, but the longest outage we've had has been 4 hours. And we've already spent all the money on this money pit.

As Ron suggested, a larger battery back-up is the way I have gotten through these outages at night. I reset my CPAP to eliminate tube heating and humidification. This reduces the Watts needed. So, just the air blower is turning. I can about 12 hours use when the power is off. Maybe longer. Worth the investment if one uses a CPAP just for the peace of mind.

They called this morning and asked if I was home to let the carpet cleaner in. I told them no, but the carpets didn't need cleaning, anyway. They need to be replaced. We'll see how that goes over.

You guys must be taking the day off from chronicling.
I'm back in town. Looks like they cleaned the carpets despite my telling them they should be replaced. Nothing else appears to have been done. Ceilings are still wrecked. Drywall hasn't been replaced.
Tomorrow I'll have another talk with the management, and reach out to my insurance carrier and to a lawyer. They are clearly trying to skate by on the absolute minimum, and I'm losing patience.

Yeah, soaked carpet sounds like a great host for mold. The management company should agree to pay all medical bills and damages resulting from neglect on their part If they want you to be a test pilot.

The management company should agree to pay all medical bills and damages resulting from neglect on their part If they want you to be a test pilot. The carpet is very old, anyway. They should be looking at this as a chance to replace it without having to lose a tenant, first. People need to work on spotting opportunity in disaster.

To me it is a non starter… wet floors the carpet goes, and probably the sub flooring.
Jumping over dollars to save dimes is a pretty foolish way to roll.

Messy auld day here in NI. Windy and stormy outside. The swell is pretty massive at the mo. Yesterday I went to go cold-water swimming with a member of my congregation, like I've done over the last few Sundays, but today, the waves were so big, the rock-pool that I swim in was swamped and even getting to it would have been dangerous...but I wish I had my camera with me (and time to take photos).
I went back to get some photos this morning before work, but the wind had changed direction so the waves were messy and not as powerful. Still, I might have got one or two photos.
Back in the house prepping for Sunday - man I'd love to have a pipe while I prep.

Rains and winds continue, off and on. Heavy flooding on the coast; thankfully I'm inland. Just have to deal with two oaks taken down by the winds three nights ago. Gypo has offered to help with clearing that. Thanks, Gypo. Will bring plenty of firewood, though.

I lived in the Bay Area during El Niño, and when the tide came in, with the ground already saturated, it was a mess. Glad you are Ok! An oak has the potential to do a number on your house.

Oaks are dang heavy. Had one over my drive rot on the inside and a large limb break off about five years ago. It dropped on my Tahoe and totaled it. Fortunately the car was old and ready for replacement. And, of course, no one was in it.

Took a couple of days to let them know. Our friend was house sitting for them and she was freaking out. The rest of the neighbors pulled out their Pacific Northwest looking chainsaws and had the wood split and stacked in one day.
