Hoping to make a Wild Turkey 101 Old Fashion Cocktail made with Southern Comfort instead of a sugar cube. I sure need it after today's complications in dealing with the State of New Mexico government agencies over our grant money. It seems that those folks in Santa Fe want to make certain nothing ever happens to improve the distant rural villages.

Sitting at Fratelli's in Flagstaff waiting on a Pesto Cashew pizza ... Lumberjack Red Ale while I wait. Pesto pizzas instead of tomato sauce are quite good. I'm a big fan! 👍😎

A two olive Martini made with Green Hat Gin. This is new to me and my friend who stocks it in Questa NM sold to me for 55 per cent off to get my opinion. I usually do not pay $33 for Gin. Certainly smooth with a light flavor from the botanicals. Not sure I would buy it again. There are so many premium priced Gins now that I have not tried. They also offer a "Navy Strength" 114 proof Gin but that I will have to order. Doing a Google search on this brand, this is made by Midwest Grain Products at their Kansas plant. My experience with MGP has always been good with the whiskeys they produce. So, it is not a reach for them to make a Gin. I still prefer Gins made in the United Kingdom. Tanqueray and Beefeater being my standards since Plymouth Gin is hard to find here. The USA is making progress on this front. Some day, a blind test of two Navy Strength Gins; Plymouth and these guys.

A nasty wreck happened a couple days ago in southern Arizona by Willcox, not very far from NM...A trucker (probably) fell asleep ran off the road and wedged himself on the inside of a guardrail under an overpass, hit the bridge abutment and roasted the pillars along with being incinerated making the freeway unsafe to travel. www.azfamily.com/2023/05/03/truck-driver-killed-fiery-semi-crash-i-10-near-willcox/I came eastbound into Douglas Az. yesterday and before I got to the Douglas scales, no less than 10 18 wheelers were being ticketed for bypassing the scales...the line to the scales was two miles long...(5MPH on the scales), so I guess some stupidly went for it. I have never seen so many trucks on the two lane highways that are usually pretty well deserted...Tombstone never saw so many trucks... since they are replacing a bridge near Benson that had been underway, it necessitated routing everyone to the border town of Douglas then back north. My buddy coming back from Lordsburg NM has it far worse, he is facing a hellish day...he had 500 miles before the detour happened.

May he rest in peace. My dad fell asleep and drove off into a bayou with a truckload of dynamite, but with noticeably better luck. If he had hit a bridge abutment, I wouldn't be here.

The Wages of Fear comes to mind. I saw you had posted under drinks and this answer struck me. I didn't realize the Charlie's and my posts were in this thread. We could derail Big Boy with a toothpick.

We could derail Big Boy with a toothpick. I looked it up. I remember a Bonanza with a similar plot. He was by his self driving from Houston to somewhere in Louisiana.

HMK is a well reviewed whiskey that's been around for years. Why would you think it wouldn't be good. I'm sure it's better than the more expensive crap made in Texas or Colorado.

Trader Joe’s ginger beer. I bought some Jamaican ginger beer years ago and it was too strong for me to drink. I have some Goslings Ginger Beer on the shelf but I haven't been brave enough to try it.

Greenhat Gin with lemonade and seltzer. No ice. It could have been more economically prepared with a cheaper Gin. I liked Gilbey's but that cannot be found here. The old stand by, Gordons, might have to do for tall mixed drinks.

Ezra Brooks Distillers Collection. Not familiar with that one. It’s one of my all time favorites. Rather hard to find though. It’s 107 proof, but one of those bourbons that you can’t tell because it’s so smooth. Sadly, this bottle is empty.

Sadly, this bottle is empty. For decades Ezra Brooks was a dependable bottom shelf bourbon that came with a black label and cost $10. Good luck finding it between the apple flavor bourbon and the $50 crap.
