I enjoy Beefeater. That is often my choice as it is slightly less $ than Tanqueray. I Gin I really love is Plymouth Navy Strength or their 80 proof or whatever they watered it down to. Now there are Irish Gins, Scottish Gins, Texas Gins, NM Gins, etc. The original is the Dutch Gin in the stoneware crocks. I have not seen them in a long time. Jennever Gin, I believe. I mostly pour a large dram every day as a measure to preserve sanity. You can only imagine what goes on here in northern NM, LOL! I am a stick in the mud. I like Gilbeys, Beefeater and Tanqueray. The newer stuff waste their advertising dollars on. My eyes. Same with all the new Tequilas. Like I'm gonna pay double because George Cluny likes it. Right. I guarantee that Jose Cuervo will make me just the right amount of crazy. Every time. Every penny over $that I've spent on Bourbon has been a waste of money. I won't talk about Single Malt, except to say that my taste in scotch was adulterated by my very generous friends. Jesus is still my Lord and Savior and I have no intention to transition to anything but ashes. With the sole exception of a $100 bottle of Booker's at 127 proof, I've found no other bourbon worth extra money beyond Old Grand Dad's bonded 100 proof, or a similarly priced Dickel's or Bulleit. Booker's genuinely tastes spiced like Christmas even though it's just stronger cask strength.
Tonight I'm having Coor's Banquet in the 1936 stubby bottles.

Coors Banquet stubby bottle here also. A great beer in my opinion. That is what I drink in summer. Folks here used to grow Moravian Barley for Coors when Adolph and Joselph were alive. When Coors advertised "High Country Barley", this is that place. Sadly, since the sale of the company, Coors mostly uses grain from Cargill, ADM, and other mega-corporate growers and their stooges. No more small growers. That is progress for you.

Sad when the sellout occurs...seen it in the meat and wholesale grocer to restaurants occurred as I worked in that industry.

Yesterday I stopped at the closest booze store and they had nothing I intended to buy. So I settled on a bottle of 100 proof Evan Williams, which I am drinking now.

Having little Turkey 101 and water and watching the NIT championship game between North Texas and UAB.
I don't have a dog in this fight, I just hope it is a good game and hopefully comes down to the wire

Good evening!
Pollen season is about over here in Coastal Georgia so I spent most of the day cleaning the screened in porch. My wife has so many plants and knick-knacks out there that it is quite an ordeal. Along with routine cleaning, I have to take out all of the furniture/plants plant stands chairs etc get the hose, shop vac, mop and clean the hell out of it. I have to do this deep cleaning about twice a year and it is about a 4 hour job (The older I get the longer it takes...)Keeping that porch clean and comfortable is pretty time consuming. I think once we get some other higher priority things taken care of, I'm going to seriously look into vinyl/screen windows. I think I can probably install them myself if I get them before I get much older. Ha!
Anyway after that, I was ready for a drink. I just mixed a very nice, neat, Turkey 101 Manhattan with a Bada-Bing! Cherry that I am sipping. The sweetness of Vermouth really goes well with the spicy finish of the bourbon. This is a very solid drink.
Cheers!

While in Indy this afternoon, picked up a 6 pack of the frilliest, dessert-iest beer that I've ever had. Sun King The Flying Cupcake Blonde Oatmeal Stout.
The Flying Cupcake is a collaboration blonde oatmeal stout made with yellow cupcakes filled with mixed berry compote and iced with white chocolate icing.
And it basically tastes like an alcoholic berry soda. Not my bag, but it looked wildly different and I'm usually a sucker for oatmeal stouts, and stout in general. This thing, I'm not sure what's stout about it? But it's a tasty wildly different drink.

A Wild Turkey 101 Old Fashioned Cocktail. I needed it. Spent much of the day trying to get our grant money, unsuccessfully, and meeting with lawyers on a different project. The weight on me is a burden. I can carry it for only so long. Something must break right for a change.

Not too hard to find around here, but not sure how large of a selection of foreign brews you find in your area. Was going for $2.79 per pint & .9 oz bottles, so I picked up 3 pints of it tonight. VS Samuel Smith and other various German brews going for around $5.29 for the same and similar size bottles. I used to be able to regularly get Baltika brand porters and extra lagers and such, but being Russian, they've not been imported since around last Feb-March. I bought one last bottle from another liquor store some months back that was already a year old the day I bought it.

Wild Turkey 101 with a large splash of Southern Comfort with ginger ale and bitters. No ice.
Another frustrating day trying to get my obsolete computer to do work. Whatever the task, it cannot be done with a five year old Dell Inspirion. I hope to take it to someone in town to upgrade. It is a toss up which is more obsolete; me or the computer.
