My ex used to make an absolutely scrumptious omelet made with refried beans and salsa. This morning I had the urge to try to recreate one. Problem: no refried beans in the pantry. So I used the Cuisinart to puree half a can of black beans. Added cumin, ancho, cilantro, salt. It was “OK” but a pale imitation of her artistry. Need to pick up some cans of refried beans, like she used.

I have been able to recreate her lasagna, but her baked burritos and a couple of others elude me. I went from 175 pounds to 235 in 18 months when we were married.

Popeye’s spicy chicken sandwich. Good stuff! That sounds really good right now. Unfortunately I haven't been able to open my mouth wide enough for a sandwich in over 2 weeks.

Went to town today for more medical consultations. Lunch was from "La Careta", the food wagon. Had a Club Sandwich. Good eating but could only manage half. So, the rest went to the dog. Not prepared in the traditional manner. This should be a double decker cut into quarters and served with potato salad. They must belong to a different club.

Going to a Styx concert tonight, stopped at Texas Roadhouse, didn’t feel like waiting 45 minutes for a table and went to Chili’s. Great wait staff, but the food just isn’t worth it.

The County Seat Cafe has a fantastic club sandwich with hand carved meats. As soon as I can open wide I'm going to eat one. Today was catfish and mac and cheese for lunch.

I guess that one good thing about getting older is that you aren't worried about being seen going to a Styx concert. I actually always liked them. I always listen to Blue Collar Man at 11 on the volume knob.

Tried to eat potatoes and cabbage in chicken broth with one Boar's Head Bockwurst. Three spoonfuls and I am done. No appetite. Sigh. Not like I am losing weight. At the MDs office on Wednesday I was down four pounds. Should be down 40 or more but it seems my metabolism is asleep.

"Chili's" is not much. Tried them in California, New Mexico and Colorado. Yet to understand why they are in business. Never been to a Texas Roadhouse. There is one in Albuquerque.

I had such a bad experience, in every respect, at a Chili's about 20 years ago, I've never been to one, since. It's not one of those where I think about going and then remember, "Oh, I don't want to do business with them." It's one of those where the very idea of going never enters my head.

Not interested in my theories about illnesses. Kidney and liver function somewhat improved per the blood tests. Does not see the loss of appetite in an obese male of 71 as a problem. I need to adjust and roll with it.

Managed to eat a 2 egg omelette and a cup of coffee. As usual, tooth problems happen on Friday evenings. My bridge fell out again on the left side and my jaw isn't working on the right side looks like I'll be having a Slim Fast for lunch.

What happened to your jaw on the right side? It's still sore from the first dentist visit and the shots in my jaw. There was another series of shots a week later. I can only open my mouth a half inch.
