Took mom for her birthday dinner last night. Started with oysters, fried calamari and onion soups for apps. Then Mom got the double crabcakes over broccolini, my son got a hangar steak over roasted red pepper mashed potatoes and vegetables, dad got veal stiffed with prosciutto, mozzarella and spinach over caramelized onion mashed potatoes and i had a NY strip with greenbeans and a baked potato. Dessert , my son got a tartufo and a cappuccino and dad got peanut butter cheesecake and a cappuccino, mom skipped dessert and i had a double espresso. It was a very nice evening, she loved it

That looks good (besides the black pudding). Prices are decent too. Did you try the potato scones? The scones were sold out when I placed my last order. This is a new product for them and they missed the demand. Black Pudding is better than it sounds, especially with a poached egg on top. Similar to the original French Boudin Sausage, not to confuse with the Louisiana and Texas Boudin, entirely different. If that just will not work, try the White Pudding, made with oatmeal. Their Back Bacon is great as are all their sausages.

Back from the morning irrigation rounds. One of my charming and competent irrigators managed to jamb his headgate with eight foot 2 X 6s. I had to shut down this branch of the system to reduce the water pressure enough to remove them.
So, I was then ready for a breakfast of poached eggs, Black Pudding, one sausage and a grated potato for hash browns. I failed to drain and blot all the water from the spud so it did not cook up the way I expected. Counseling the cook is needed!

Wife fed me biscuits and sausage for breakfast. Iced tea instead of coffee this morning. I will soon try to make gluten-free biscuits. I have a collection of gluten free flours. The sausage gravy should be easier. I have four types of sausage to choose from. The best biscuits are made with low protein, low gluten wheat flour. White Rose comes to mind.

Doing San Antonio dogs in a bit, also known as crispy dogs.
Lay a hot dog in a corn tortilla roll it 3/4 way, put a line of Chile Con Carne and shredded cheese, and finish up rolling it, put toothpicks in to hold it together.
Deep fry, and then do some French fries.
Cooking in the garage so the house does not smell like corn, too hot to do it under the sun.

2 State Fair Corn Dogs, all beef with yellow mustard on the side. I read the ingredients label and it was better than I expected. I won't eat the cheaper brands. From allrecipes: β A staple of American cuisine, the street food was likely invented by German immigrants in Texas in the 1920s.β I always assumed it originated from back east. Never had a homemade, the recipe looks pretty simple. We typically buy Foster farms which are good, sure they are chicken dogs. Edit: Foster Farms ingredients: β BATTER: Water, enriched flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), sugar, yellow corn flour, enriched degermed yellow corn meal (yellow corn meal, niacin, iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), soy flour, contains less than 2% of: leavening (sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium bicarbonate), soybean oil, salt, egg yolk, potato flour, egg white, dried honey, artificial flavor. Fried in vegetable oil. CHICKEN FRANK: Mechanically separated chicken, water, salt, contains 2% or less of corn syrup solids, potassium lactate, potassium acetate, spices, sodium phosphate, sodium diacetate, flavorings, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrate. CONTAINS WHEAT, SOY, EGGS AND GLUTEN.β

Two SupreBeet Heart Chews, and some Sun Chips for lunch, but there is a crock-pot on the counter, filled with zucchini, onion, garlic, green pepper, and mushrooms...to this I've added my own mix of spices and a jar of good quality red sauce, I think it'll stand on its own with pasta, but the wife insists on ground beef, so beef it is...thats' for supper.

Lunch was an uncured Knockwurst and sauerkraut with a salad of field greens meaning mostly lawn trimmings it looked like. Los of dandelion leaves in there.
Dinner will be chicken thighs, browned in an iron pan and simmered in Tika Masala Sauce. Brown rice. That ought to heat up the kitchen!
