Lunch was ham and Swiss wraps...good, but a bit lackluster compared to our breakfast of zucchini/pineapple bread and coffee. We made zucchini bread yesterday, and one loaf is already history. We had it hot, out of the oven, yesterday, had small portions late last night, a slice each for breakfast, and sent a friend home with two slices...a big bag of tomatoes and some squash too, he was all smiles!

My wife mixes, ground beef with oats, an egg, some seasonings, and other things for hamburgers. Basically, it’s a meatloaf mixture that we fry up into hamburgers. She’s out running errands today, so I found one of those burgers uncooked in the fridge and fried it up with a glass of milk and some Fritos corn chips on the side.

Taco Plate at my favorite Mexican joint in town. One pork, one chicken and one steak, with refritos and rice, guacamole and roasted jalapeño peppers. I am stuffed. Need to downsize to the half order of two tacos. These folks use two tortillas per rolled taco. So, I use the extra torts for the rice and beans and salad with sliced jalapeños.

Breakfast and lunch didn't happen today, dentist and all that. Wife fixed fantastic spaghetti with meat sauce tonight and it was the best. I usually cook the sauce, but not today. So I woke up and she was finishing it. I asked her a bunch of questions and she did it exactly the way I would. I asked her about my secret ingredient and she grinned and said "you mean Mexene?" She improved it with the last of the tomatos from our garden.

I’ve been on a kimchi kick lately, would love yo hear your recipe Napa cabbage (salted to wilt), daikon, scallions and carrots. The spice rub is Korean chile powder, shrimp paste, garlic and ginger. Ferment in jars for 4 or 5 days, then refrigerate. Next batch I'd like to add other greens and vegetables to the Napa base.

It'll go on like this for a couple more weeks. The blackberries are just starting now. It's a small bed that yields a large handful to about a pint for several weeks this time of year and again late September.
