In town today. Went to a place I know for lunch serving great salads. The problem was they forgot to add the chicken, the Greek olives, the feta cheese, the pepperoncini. I was still charged for the entire salad without the ingredients. Could not make them understand what the problem was. The waitress never read the menu and had no idea what I was talking about. Eaten there many times over the decades and always great. So, one mistake is not worth aggravation. Better luck next time. So, they gave you a plate of lettuce?

There were a few shredded carrots, sprouts, and sliced red onion. It was their basic dinner salad without the toppings the dish specifies on the menu. A busy day for them. The waitress was new. A nice lady, quite personable but not trained well. If they had been less crowded with customers it would have been easy to correct. Seeing they were at their busiest, it seemed wise to just let it ride.

Not eating yet. I'm going to modify a can of good tomato sauce and add browned ground beef, onion, garlic, basil, oregano, and red pepper Flake. I'll have this over linguine for dinner.

Went for a long walk around a lake after that… what a belt buster. I love white clam sauce on pasta. Our one ersatz Italian restaurant in Taos cannot prepare it, of course. Sigh. Such a simple dish but not on their menu. I asked the waitperson about it and she never heard of it. Blank stare when I mentioned it to the owner. Anyway, glad you enjoyed yours whether red or white.

Lou’s diner for a late morning breakfast, they have been here since the late 60’s pretty awesome food, and the wait staff is equally awesome.
People always waiting for tables, I can always find a seat at the counter though.

7 mares (seven seas soup) in Kingman, excellent dish, loaded with crab legs, oysters, mussels, scallops, potatoes, onions, carrots in a red sauce, super tasty.
The service was not great, and the $14 margarita only had a whiff of tequila.
If I eat here again, the cocktail will be skipped.

The ringer on our phone was turned off this morning (we don't know why), and I didn't check for that until too late. As a consequence, our disabled son missed his paratransit pickup. In consequence of that, he's missing his day program today, basically because I was an idiot.
So, crow.
Also, a late breakfast of eggs and cheese wrapped in a tortilla, amply garnished with Shaquanda's Oooohmami Pepper Sauce and self-recrimination, along with coffee almost as dark and bitter as my mood.

Lunch was more of my beef, cabbage, potato and lentil soup. Good it was. Nap time presently.

Had a late supper at Olive Garden. Small steak medium rare with Alfredo pasta and Zuppo Toscana. Not bad, except for the $60 price tag for the 2 of us.

I never had a good experience in their restaurants. A pool of grease floating on top of the soup. Pasta overcooked to almost mush. I had the sense the kitchen was understaffed as these errors are the result of not enough attention to details.

Everything has gotten more expensive in the last few years, most noticeably to me is dining out. Fortunately, most of my dining out is paid for by my employer. I skip all of the chains anymore, Outback, Olive Garden, Applebees, etc….and search out the mom and pop restaurants, both are going to cost the same, but the food seems consistently better.
