I didn’t realize when I got the two disks on KLONDIKE that I had the whole thing, since there are only three episodes. So I watched the third and last episode last night, even though I wasn’t impressed by the first two. It did not improve IMO. I found it preachy, pseudo-deep, with only mediocre production values. I usually watch at least one or two of the “bonus features” and was surprised to see that Ridley Scott was involved. I knew about Sam Shepherd of course since he has a role. There were the usual so-called interviews where the principles — sometimes including one or two of the 43 “executive producers” — tell us what a fantastic series we have just been privileged to watch. How it reveals everything we need to know about the human condition and the Philosophy of Life. Most of which I found a load of rubbish.
But, to be fair, I can see how someone could like it. I guess it just got off on the wrong foot with this curmudgeon. Which was bound to happen when in early scenes meant to show us how killingly fierce a winter storm in the Yukon could be, wind howling and snow blowing, the hero is stumbling around in an open-collar coat and then suddenly yanks off his wool cap so he can go bare-headed toward the camera.

New series on Netflix, The Diplomat starting the gal who was the spy wife in The Americans, watched some last night while waiting to give wife her pain meds, fairly good. Prayers for the missus.

Ridley Scott usually can be counted on for well crafted entertainment and the wife is crazy about Sam Shepherd. Every new show we have watched recently has had stupid stuff like this. Scott was a producer on 2 episodes. So he really didn't have that much to do with it.

At least for this simple minded viewer.

Hard to believe that if Ridley Scott is one of your “executive producers” you wouldn’t be asking all sorts of questions. Of course, he might not have been ever available for any interaction with the production crew.
[“executive producer”, noun; your wife’s cousin; minor investor; college roommate; tennis partner; etc. ]

Sometimes it hard to keep up when you are sitting on a giant pucker. 😜 I am not sure what that means. When you are watching Aliens in the theater for the first time, there's a certain amount of anxiety that builds up in your nether regions.

Watching Carol Burnett's 90th birthday special...what a great talent, and launched so many great comedians. Love that gal!

Watching archived game shows... Newlywed game, Bob Eubanks: "what would make you happy with your wife?" Contestant: 'Oral gratification, Bob" Every competitors wife threw a pillow at the poor schlub and Bob walked over and did so too... I don't remember the 70's being so racy...but then again it was so now that I think about it. If you remember family feud Richard Dawson was all over the women. Them drinks on Hollywood squares had some horsepower in them and in the last years, Gene Rayburn appeared pretty tanked. They filmed multiple shows at one setting and you can definitely see the libations kicking in.

"The Big Clock", 1948, with Charles Laughton, Ray Milland, George Macready. Another Film Noir of sorts. Laughton and Macready are truly slimy.

Laughton was good in everything. For me, his pinnacle was Sir Wilfrid Robarts, QC, in "Witness for the Prosecution". I enjoyed his relationship with Miss Plimsol, his movie nurse and wife in life. His courtroom antics were enjoyable.

We've been watching "White House Plumbers" ... what a crazy story! Anytime G. Gordon Liddy is involved it will be so. What a character he was.

Catching up on Shetland on Britbox. Douglas Henshall is a great actor, good storyline and the scenery isn’t too bad either.

I suppose they thought they needed a pole dancer. Colin Powell died off, a constant on the show as he pole danced…. Mark Milley is the new face of scumbaggery in the military, I know which pole he dances on. Otherwise a stellar show.
