I am into the fifth episode of an English Detective series "Dalgleish" set in the early 1970s. Not quite as well written as "Endeavour" or "Foyle's War" but engaging. DS Dalgleish's character is also a published poet, for what that is worth, indicative of brains, I imagine. Also drives a Jaguar E Type V12 Coupe. The car is the real star of the series. Interesting mysteries. I think I may have seen some episodes of that, many moons ago. The name is familiar and I can't imagine where else I would've run across it. Based upon the P.D. James series of crime novels.

Watching Bass Reves and enjoying it, Paramount Streaming! I watched the first two episodes and thought it well made. Great story. Looking forward to episode three this evening. Marshall Reeves was a man who knew what justice is meant to be.

Watching The Serpent Queen about Catherine de Medici. Tough woman during a tough period of time. She is widely considered to be the source of cuisine in France from her marriage to some Frog King. She brought the best cooks in Italy with her. The rest is history. Anyway that is the story told to me by Italians.

Watching one of the greatest military shows ever, Hogan’s Heroes. My older friends in Germany, born before the war and kids during, hated that show. I mean they were truly offended by it and could not understand why we thought it humorous. For me, I enjoyed it when it was first aired.

I always get a kick when the Gestapo/ Burkhalter threaten Col. Klink with a transfer to the Russian front… his expression, and of course he threatens Schulz with the same.
That would be a really bad assignment.

I’ve never been able to see Nazi Germany as a source for humor.

I watched Hogans Heroes some, but I always thought it was in bad taste, even as I laughed.

The Barking Murders on Britbox, a 3 part series about several murders that took place in Barking England.
The incompetence of the police force was on full display, Barney Fife would be a Sherlock by comparison.

O, woe. Tonight I watched the last episode, “Elise”, of FOYLE. I have seen a lot of Brit series and I have to say that this was the very best of them. Horowitz did an amazing job with it. I would recommend it without any reservation whatsoever.

I would recommend it without any reservation whatsoever. I have watched it twice, most recently, a week or so ago. I really enjoyed the Cold War episodes with Hilda Pearce. She was a pistol! Life with Samantha Stewart around and about is always better. Honeysuckle Weeks did a fine job with that role. Foyle was a fine series.

All of the cold war episodes were based on actual events, sometimes only barely fictionalized. I’m impressed by the dexterity of Horowitz in his script writing.

I'm watching the original production of the British series "Father Brown" from the mid-'70s streaming on BritBox. Set in the '20s, the role of Father Brown was played by Kenneth More who also had roles in war movies such as "Sink the Bismarck" and "The Longest Day". The acting is rather stiff as is the formal dialog. Regardless, it's watchable and the detective work is engaging. The series lasted for one season.

We've watched all the new Father Brown series with Daddy Weasley as the good father. Might have to look at the old ones.

As many times as I've seen it running on our PBS station, I thought there must be several seasons of it.

Watching a movie titled Silver with Alec Baldwin and Sharon Stone, a 1993 thriller.
Pretty good, wondering though if Sharon ever made a movie without showing the groceries.

Wife decided to watch Kelly Clarkson’s Christmas show at Rockefeller plaza. What a waste of time, and not at all entertaining. Most of it all was modern Christmas songs that (to me) came across as severely lacking.
I prefer the traditional Christmas songs by the singers of days gone by, Andy Williams, Burl Ives, Bing Crosby, etc…
Maybe because asa kid that was Christmas… maybe the current generation will see these performers and this will be their tradition, but none of these songs seem to compare.
Maybe I am just turning into a Christmas curmudgeon.

Been watching some kind of mermaid series. Interesting for the first season, but it's going down hill. Siren is the name.
