A few days ago Amazon dropped off my new book in the "All Creatures Great and Small" series by James Herriot. I also have wallboard molly system thingies on the way so that I can rehang my wife's shelf.

I just ordered my two tin limit of Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake and I should have them on Monday. It's an absolute favorite of mine and not regularly in stock.

2 pounds of Lil'gun and a pound of Winchester 231. Hogdon Powder had a Memorial Day weekend free hazmat sale. I still can't believe how much powder costs now.

Cellaring deep on anything related to Alcohol Tobacco, and Firearms just makes sense. Especially if already done. Do you ever buy from Powder Valley? In the past I heard a couple of guys say that they like doing business with them..

The author describes the the time and place in a most excellent way. Herriot became one with the remote Dales just like the farmers and other residents there. He often wrote about how the grass smelled on summer days, how the freezing wind bit into him in winter, and how beautiful the surroundings were in the Spring and Autumn. Great series indeed!

In Houston you could just go to the store and buy powder, bullets, etc. I got this batch directly from Hogdon. It was a few bucks higher than Powder Valley but free hazmat makes up for that.

HazMat fees are terrible. I found small pistol primers online a while back. The price was ridiculous - $90/1000. Used to pay $33/1000. After shipping fee, Haz Mat fee ($30) and tax, they cost me ~$140! Recently I found them on the shelf at Scheels. They still wanted ~$140! I've used W231 once before - for 158 gr 38 Special and 124 gr 9mm. I prefer Titegroup. It used to be cheap - as little as $22/lb, AND you didn't need much of it, so it went farther. I think right on the bottle it says to only use 3.8 gr for 30 Special, but I don't remember the bullet weight.

I moved from Illinois to Florida in February. Made 3 trips back there since, to see kids and load more stuff that I didn't trust to ship. Should be there now, except my wife and I got hit with COVID last week. Over it now. Going to sell the Illinois home in August. Have people lining up to pay cash. No need for a realtor.

Can’t imagine any reason for anyone wanting to move to Illinois, the state is run so badly, the powers that be put the ill in Illinois.

I ordered a new CPAP mask and hose from the VA and it should be here in a few days. Because of the holiday, the two tins of Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake that I ordered won't be delivered until Tuesday.

Got some Robert Louis Stevenson books in the mail today for bedtime reading with the kids - Treasure Island and Catriona (sequel to Kidnapped). Last Friday I ordered a wide selection of blends from SP. Bit of a sampler of mostly bulk but also a few tins. Haul includes Evening Flake, Father Dempsey, Presbyterian, Holiday Mixture, Newminster SRS, EGR, Haunted Bookshop, ODF, St Bruno, and some Ennerdale RR. Should be here late next week. Mostly things I've seen a lot or been recommended on here. Feeling pretty well stocked like I won't need to buy more tobacco for a long time (famous last words) 😉

Thanks, I was hoping to cover a lot of ground - cast a wide net, see what lands in the rotation for now, the cellar for later, or the trade box to make someone else happy. With SRS I was going for Superior Round Sliced, but maybe it's not a thing - I haven't checked the acronym thread in a while, haha.

Here it is - just arrived. Also got a lovely Czech tool and a tin of Maltese Falcon (my first real tin). Yahoo! Interested to compare CS Second Breakfast to C&D Autumn Evening and CS Bag End to MM 965. Quite an aroma in the shipping box, stoked to dive in when I get a chance As you’ll find out, Bag End and MM965 are quite different from each other. For sure, John! Tried the Bag End today and it is not even close to 965. I noobishly thought they might be similar since they've both been described as "Scottish" blends, but now I see that's kind of like thinking lemon bars and brownies might taste similar because they've both been described as "bar cookies." Haha!

I should've known that one. Just spaced out. I've got a lot of it. It should make an interesting comparison with that ODF you got.

Haha! That's interesting. I don't really think of either one as Scottish blends. I guess 965 is by the technical definition (basically an English plus cavendish), but it smokes more like an English, to me. Bag End I don't think is even technically a Scottish blend. Regardless, this is how we learn things.
