Currently waiting for a new chainsaw chain that I was hoping would arrive in the morning but looks like it'll be in the afternoon delivery. Oh well. I did as much as I could limbing the trees with the sawzall and bundling the branches before it gets too hot. Should be able to finish the rest tomorrow. First week all season I have only two chains to sharpen only barely touch one it's still cutting good don't know the other can't remember but will take care of it tomorrow and clean both saw's dueling 461's this season one has 32 inch Stihl light bar the other 28 inch old Oregon light bar.

How often do you gents order baccy, via the mail? Which brand(s) do you usually get?
Once a month order for me. Typically Sir Walter Raleigh regular and/or Hearth and Home Marquee Black House. Maybe Proper English 52...quite a fine bulk blend from Peter Stokkebye. The Sir Walter Raleigh is something that I cellar quite deeply.
Is it silly for me to waste my time seeking esoterica blends?
🤷🤷🤷

When it comes to Esoterica blends, if you're trying to find them on websites, yeah, you're pretty much wasting your time. Basically nobody posts their Esoterica stock. If you want to actually find some, it seems you have to get on the phone and call the shops. From what I'm told, it's not horribly difficult to find at least some of them if you work the phones. Some are hard to get no matter what.

I'm mostly done buying new blends. Only thing I plan to buy is more of the gl pease blends I like when they go on sale. I lucked out getting that margate. I wasn't looking for it just someone in a group chat said hey country squire had some. I don't care for it enough to chase it. But if I stumble across it like I did ill pick some up.

Was about to order some cigarillos from a “major cigar vendor” when I noticed their shipping charge was $9.99 for a 7oz package. Whenever I see that a vendor is making shipping a part of their profit picture I write ‘em off.

If its the vendor im thinking of I was going to order from them but they wouldnt let me use the 25% off coupon on my order so I decided to just live without a box of kentucky cherroots

I’ve been smoking a pipe for 40 years and have stashed away about 175 lbs. So, I probably actually never need to buy tobacco ever again. Most my tobacco buying is done at the Chicago and Columbus pipe shows where I am mostly looking for reasonable deals on aged (5 to 20 years) tins of stuff I like. I only order about 1 to 3 lbs of tobacco online a year to tweak holes in the cellar.
Back when I was seriously building my cellar, I had my budget setup such that I allocated enough to order a couple pounds a month.

This is the only DTM tobacco that I buy. From what I'm finding, it appears that it's a factory code. No production date on DTM tins.

Arrived: This 1968 Dunhill Shell Briar 6k. I've had my eye out for a birthyear pipe for quite a while, but what few I saw either didn't appeal to me or didn't appeal to me enough to justify the asking price. Friend Gypo found this one for me and it's even nicer in person than it appears in the photo. It also came with the original box and paper matter describing the Dunhill blends available at the time, which is kinda neat. I'll try to get a better pic or two now that I have it in hand. Thanks again, Ted! You done good.

Thanks again, Ted! You done good. Chance Whitamore (Great Estate Pipes) is a very talented restorer. He can take the crappiest pipe and make it look and smoke like new. I’ve bought several pipes from him and have sent him pipes to restore. Robert “Lawdog” Lawing is the best restorer out there in my opinion. Chance is #2 in my book. I once sent Chance a pipe with a very scorched bowl that I thought was beyond saving. Came back looking like new.

Last weekend I was bidding on an Eltang Lumberman but dropped out and it ended up going for about $125 more than I considered it to be worth.
