oh wow, that's a lot to take in. i've really been out of the loop. no, wasn't aware Basil had quit pipe making After having his chest split open, Basil no longer has the upper body strength to use a lathe. 😢  He is now making decorative wooden storage boxes and using a CNC machine to carve decorative lids.  He still attends pipe shows and brings the boxes.  I was lucky enough to get one of his last six available pipes at the Columbus Show in 2021. If you haven’t, send Basil a friend request on FB as he posts pics of his work. I've had 2 of Basil's pipes, one was a commissioned Bing,(Service Merchant), and the other one is a poker. The Bing was a fine pipe but just didn't suit me so I passed it along. The poker is great.

Does anyone have some tins of Mac Baren Latakia Blend Roll Cake they would like to sell? I’m smoking my last bowl of my last tin in a Georgetown Belge.

oh wow, that's a lot to take in. i've really been out of the loop. no, wasn't aware Basil had quit pipe making And Ron Powell, RDpipes, quit making pipes too. i was afraid of that. I know he sold his equipment when we went to live with his daughter, but that didn't work out and he moved again and was trying to get back into it, but that was about the time i drifted off.

I know he sold his equipment when we went to live with his daughter, but that didn't work out and he moved again and was trying to get back into it, but that was about the time i drifted off. He made a lot of pipes after he got back to Texas, and sold every one. I got 2 from him. He just decided he didn't want to do it anymore. As far as I know, He still has all his equipment. He's making other stuff now.

King Frog Morton in a MM apple shape cob. Not a bad tobacco. A nice flavor - but not really comparable to McClelland's Frog Morton's Cellar. Think I'll add a rum soaked piece of barrel stave to it to see if that improves it any.

Frog Morton’s Cellar came with staves cut from barrels, I think many saved and rehydrated them with rum.

I got the idea from you, actually. I think I asked this before, but where do you guys get pieces of stave? I save them from tins of Seattle Pipe Club Plum Pudding Bourbon Barrel Aged. I just drop them into Mason jars of rum or bourbon and leave them. When I want to flavor a tobacco, I pull one out, pat it dry and drop it into a jar of tobacco.
