Good Sunday Morning! It's 56° here with a cloudy sky and one of the workshop doors is wide open. Arrrrgh! I have an irritation in my left eye that's making me miserable even though I've been flooding it with eye drops. Anyway, by tomorrow at this time I'll be in the hospital getting ready for a brand new left hip. This is my last pipe day for about three weeks until I'm home and can hobble out to deck and light up again. Starting off with a bowl of Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake in the BBB Two Star Special and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee on the tobacco table. Have a good, relaxing day, everybody! Speedy recovery! Be sure to do all the recommended therapy.

Good Luck tomorrow, Russ, I know it's not you're first time around, but it's still no walk in the park...keep us posted as to your recovery. Thanks, Herb and John! I'll be in the hospital for three days or so and then I'll get shipped off to a rehab facility. The absolute must is to do what I'm told and keep my mouth shut. A therapist will have me up and around using a walker the afternoon of my surgery in order to keep my new joint and muscles from stiffening. I'll have my tablet with me and will check in from time to time, so that I can make sure that you guys are behaving yourselves!

Good Morning Again! It's already 72° with a mostly cloudy sky, sunshine, and quiet out here on the deck. Rain is moving in for this afternoon and, after a dry three weeks or so, it will certainly help with this moderate drought condition. I'm still having a blasted time with this left eye irritation, but it's slowly getting better as long as I keep it flushed. I hate this...HATE IT! Anyway, I just loaded the BBB billiard with a bowl of Wessex Brown VA Flake and there's still some coffee in the travel mug.

Smoked PS 81 in a TV churchwarden all day today, now Mac Baren HH Rustica in a BC Origine. I’m drawing a blank on “TV”. I have no clue. I seem to remember I have a few pipes marked TV, but I don’t know what it stands for and a search on line gives no further info. The churchwarden I’ve been smoking is nicely made with quality wood, that’s not true of my other TV marked pipes, which are kind of mediocre all around. I’d be curious if anyone knows anything about TV pipes out there. I’m smoking Savinelli 140th in my BC calabash.

I've seen TV pipes from St. Claude. I had one that was a fine smoker. I may still have it, who can tell?

While digging in the cellar I ran across a couple jarred flats of MacBaren Acadian Perique that I did not remember cellaring back in 2015. No longer made, I suspect it was because of the unavailability of components....this is smoking great in a Peterson "Irish Whiskey" bent bulldog. www.tobaccoreviews.com/blend/3461/mac-baren-hh-acadian-periqueNever heard of a VaKyPer, but I think the assessment is spot on!

The first two weeks are tough with getting in and out of bed, but I'm going to a post surgery rehab center for a couple of weeks so my wife won't be saddled with that task. I'll be in touch, pal.

Good Afternoon! It's 69°, the land is being blessed with rain right now, and both workshop doors are wide open. Nice. I've been packing up my suitcase and making sure that I have everything. Deodorant? Eye glass cleaners? Electric shaver? Check. Currently smoking a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the BBB billiard with a bottle of cold water on the tobacco table. Have a good night, everyone!

If it is any help, Russ… I have heard that recovery from hip replacement is far easier than knee replacement.
Hang in there!

If it is any help, Russ… I have heard that recovery from hip replacement is far easier than knee replacement. Hang in there! Well, Charlie, that's true in my case. I had my left knee replaced some years ago and it's the physical therapy that I found to be just brutal. If the exercises aren't done, the muscles and joint will stiffen and keep it from working. I just do what I'm told because everything will turn out fine in the end.
