If it is any help, Russ… I have heard that recovery from hip replacement is far easier than knee replacement. Hang in there! Well, Charlie, that's true in my case. I had my left knee replaced some years ago and it's the physical therapy that I found to be just brutal. If the exercises aren't done, the muscles and joint will stiffen and keep it from working. I just do what I'm told because everything will turn out fine in the end. I've had friends with both. The last hip replacement, he was walking around the block within a week. Used to require months of physical therapy.

Smoking more Savinelli 140th in my BC calabash. My BC Calabash is a "Junior" and I've been working on the same bowl all day off and on. Glad I didn't get the larger version. And it smokes every bowl down to pure ash. Fantastic pipe!

Quite a beauty there Urb! Museum quality stuff going on here. Thanks, Charlie. I did really well with that one. The other side is a mirror image, and the cross grain is all tight and either flame or straight. There's not a dead spot on it. Iafisco is a pretty dab hand with contrast stains.

And it smokes every bowl down to pure ash. Fantastic pipe! Mine is definitely in my top three ever. I don’t pay much attention to specific manufacturers and my experience is fairly limited with Butz Choquin, but every pipe of theirs that I have smoked, calabash or briar, has been a great smoker.

I have a half dozen BCs. They are all great smokers except for one that's more art than pipe. They were in business for 160 years and they were one of the first to make pipes out of briar.

Enjoyed some TCS Rivendell in the Lumberman on a walk with the family today. Good stuff, and only needed one relight over the course of a mile and a half.

Now that my internet is working and I'm caught up, here's last night's Iafisco lovat: That one is a looker. He makes good pipes. I became aware of his work as a result of buying a Luciano pipe (he was their carver).

Happy Monday, all! Busy with family activities yesterday, feasting and socializing instead of working. Still had time for pipes and tobacco. Started today with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Monday cob and coffee. Everything's wet from overnight rain, so I'll be in the workshop restoring/cleaning some pipes and finishing a new pipe that I started on weeks ago.
