2014 Crown Achievement in my Stanwell Silver S 126 Horn with plateaux rim. Sweet looking piece of briar! The story about the resurrection of Crown achievement, finding the old recipe book, and even finding the old tinning machine and recreating the labels to fire up production is a great story. Truly a great blend, glad that I jarred a few pounds away, saddened that it did not take root on round two. Thanks! This pipe is a perfect example of why I seek out the estate dealers from Denmark who travel to the Chicago Show. They bring some great pipes we wouldn’t see otherwise in the US. Totally agree on the Crown Achievement. Some random surfing a couple weeks ago found that JR Cigar seems to still have 5lb bulk bag(s) available. I was tempted, but that’s way more than I need as I still have 16 or 17 tins. I’ve been scooping up singles at pipe shows since it went away again.

Good Morning! It's 64° with a cloudy sky and everything is wet out here on the deck. The chair and three cushions that I sit on get tucked partly under the table and the umbrella keeps them dry. Later on, I have an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon and he'll either change out or completely remove my bandage. I'll probably have some X-rays taken as well just to make sure the new joint hasn't shifted in place. The first pipe of the smoking day is Peterson Flake in the Peterson Rosslare 106 and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee on the side. Have a good one, everybody!

Good Morning Again! It's 66° with bright cloudiness out here on the deck. We're back from my orthopedic surgeon's visit, but more about that in the Daily Chronicle. What a horrible appointment time...9:00am! A complete disruption of my pipe and coffee. Unfortunately, unless I wanted to wait another two weeks, that was the only time available. I damned well made sure that my next appointment would be in the afternoon. Now then, ahh yes, currently smoking a bowl of the last of the Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake in the Pete smooth billiard and there's some tepid leftover coffee in the travel mug.

P.S. Black Cavendish in my Savinelli Estella 606. This tobacco is a lot like the old Tinder Box Captain Spice in terms of flavor, but without all the relights...or maybe it's the same tobacco, and I've learned to keep it lit.

Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Friday cob and coffee. Rainy morning in SE Michigan, so I get a day off from yard and garden work.

Good Afternoon! It's 69° with rain on the way out here on the deck. I'm going to have lunch, take a nap and then do my exercises after I wake up. Currently smoking a bowl of Peterson Flake in the Pete smooth billiard with a plastic mugga cold water on the side. Time to check the latest headlines.

2015 Newminster Superior Slices in a Peterson tankard. Age made those really pretty! Names for tobacco sometimes crack me up. “Superior Slices”. Does that mean they make Inferior Slices? And if they don’t, how can they claim they are superior? Another, “Our Best Blend”. Does that mean everything else by that blender is progressively crappier? I’m smoking some older (2014?) Comoy’s Cask No. 7 in a meerschaum.

Thanks Pete, I spent a whole year being 68 to get where I am today, and it doesn't feel all that different. But in all fairness, I haven't picked up the ice-cream yet.
