Good Afternoon! It's 84°, breezy, humid, and with a bright but cloudy sky out here on the deck and we'll have thunderstorms moving in for this evening. News Flash: Windows 98 was first released on this date. Currently smoking a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Stanwell 29 and there's a bottle of cold water on the side. Time to read for a while. Have a relaxing night, everybody! Hey Russ, since you are all wise with Windows, what year did we first have windows? I think it was somewhere around 1993ish... When it came on the scene we thought it was all we ever needed!

Getting organized for usual brunch with the ol' gals soon, will take same baccy & huge Tinsky DrunkenPoker with me 74, to 81, rain expected later Ed-dealing with... Hey Ed, I’m curious about the Drunken Poker. Can’t say I’ve ever seen one. Can you post a picture of yours? Inquiring minds want to know, or is it nosey people?

A bit earlier, John.... Windows 1.0 was released in November of 1985. And I, like a fool, installed it. On an 80286. It didn't crash, but it also didn't do anything. No programs for it. 3.1 was the first usable version.

Back then it was all about the speed then windows became the behemoth we know today. That’s why I use a MacBook In 1997, I went to work for a payroll company that has about 3500 clients. Our software server was running Netware and the processing PC was running DOS. We started moving towards a Windows based software as it looked like the software company was being bought by a competitor. After a ton of issues, we ended up with a much bigger server and 6 Workstations, (real pro machines) to do the same work. When I retired we had 62 virtual servers on 12 machines in 3 locations. Everything actually ran in the data centers. VMware is a lifesaver when running Windows. The video conferencing would have probably worked much better on the Macs too. Oh yeah, I downloaded Windows Ver.1 over a dialup modem, if you can imagine that.

Good Morning! It's 69°, humid, and cloudy out here on the deck before first light. A thunderstorm and showers are expected sometime today, so please stand by. This afternoon my physical therapist will stop in to watch me walk and to give me my next assignment. Starting the smoking day with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Amorelli Three Star and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee on the deck table. Have a good one, everybody!

Happy Monday, all! Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Monday cob and coffee on the front porch. Watching it rain here. Gonna be that way off and on for much of the day. Oh well, good pipesmoking weather, I guess.

Good Morning Again! It's 71°, breezy, and cloudy with occasional peeks of sunshine, and the threat of a thunderstorm sometime out here on the deck. So far, we've only had a couple of short sprinkles and that's all. Well, I did my exercises and I seem to be able to take a longer stride when walking with my cane. Gettin' there, gettin' there. It's quiet in neighborhood and an excellent time to read. Finishing yet another bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Amorelli and there's a second travel mugga coffee on the deck table.
