Same here, Pete. It's 78° with a hazy sky out here on the deck at sunset. Yeah, the days are getting shorter. Currently smoking a bowl of Peterson Flake in the MM General cobwarden with a long, curved original Walker Forever Stem. Have a great night, everybody!

Plum Pudding S.R. in a fancy little pipe I hardly ever smoke, It's marked Stanwell over made in Denmark, over Rondi, I believe, and wares some eye-popping ring-grain.

Good Saturday Morning! It's 59° with a clear sky here in the neighborhood. A light chore day is ahead and I'll spend as much time as I want to at the basement hobby bench. The smoking day has begun with the usual bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in today's pipe, the Peterson Rosslare 106 smooth billiard. The usual fresh travel mugga coffee is on the workshop tobacco table. Have a great weekend, everybody!

Warped Midsommar in a 5th Ave Let Freedom Ring cob w dark orange swirl Forever stem. First impressions of Midsommar; all white burley forward. Mostly white burley, just a whisper of sweetness, distant molasses. A few minutes in and the small amount of Izmir starts to show it’s flavors and it gets more floral to the white burley flavor. Really no hint of that bright VA to be found. A few more bowls in different pipes and some briar to dial it in, but expect full on white burley flavor with the very faint sweetness of molasses, and then Izmir in the background.
The bright VA seems to peek in past the half way mark and smooths and rounds the profile, but a serious background player to the aforementioned.
Tomorrow’s my birthday, and I went a bit heavy on some books last night and this afternoon at two used bookstores. Picked up quite a few.

In Midsommar, floral notes are coming from the Basma. Izmir is usually more musty/footy notes and I’m not really detecting it so much as a floral Basma Oriental component.
