It was nice. Just enough Perique to spice things up. Yes, the Perique adds to the depth and body of the blend. It's unavailable through my usual suppliers but, when it's in stock, I always like to have it in the regular rotation. I’ve been keeping an eye out for it since you’ve been praising it, but haven’t caught it in stock anywhere yet.

2016 SPC Deception Pass in my Kaywoodie Straight Grain Apple.  The color and grain on that one reminds me a lot of my BC Supermate. It's straight vs birdseye, but that bit that I'd kind of call a "birthmark" is what made the connection in my brain, I think. That and the color family and bowl shape:
