Patchers,
Its been a while I know, new job, teaching at the dojo etc. has kept me away from the patch lately. However, i wanted to ask my friends for some prayers. My best friend Brad, whom most of you have heard of, has been my best friend for 24 years and has seen me through some of the most difficult times in my life. Brad is also a fellow pipe and cigar smoker and we’ve shared many good times having a smoke together.
Today i found out that he has fallen sick with cancer and the outlook is not tremendously good. He has undergone additional testing and biopsies to see how far this has spread but so far, looks like liver, lung and lymph nodes. I’m obviously going to be there with him every step of the way but was hoping for prayers and / or good thoughts for my buddy. He’s abrasive and obnoxious at times but at the core, he is a great soul with a heart of gold. I couldn’t imagine anything happening to him but here we are. He is 49 with 5 kids who love their dad as much as I do.

Indeed that is tough. I suppose that if your time is that limited with a family, maybe he can drill down deep and express his affection and let his kids know what he would like for them going forward. Just got back from a visit with Brad. He’s in good spirits but deteriorating fast. We hung out, watched some old movies, cooked together(having him eat a lot of calories is key right now) and just talked for a long time. He gave me some of his cigars and also one of his bracelets and chains and asked me to keep them well in the event he doesnt see me again. It was very tough but I’m glad i was there with him. Next challenge will be getting him uo to the cabin for a long weekend.
