Buster felt the call of duty at 2 in the morning, so I loaded a bowl of Newminster Vere Cherry in the Caminetto 120...I found a huge bag of it in the tobacco cabinet last week, and I felt like I should give it a shot. The good news is, this is not at all akin to Lane's Very Cherry, not in taste, not in texture...Y,M,M,V. on the Lane V.C. , but it doesn't work for me. This one has a cherry bark like flavoring that's been steamed into what I think my be low grade Virginia leaf{ no bash intended}...I rubbed it down and gravity filled the bowl, taking care just fill and not pack the bowl, hoping for as even burn with little fuss, and I was rewarded with an even burn that left the pipe too hot to hold at the half way mark. After a little rest,I worked the tamper around the edges and shaped the white ash into a sort of cap, lit up, and very slowly made my way to the heel, with much less heat and a bit more tobacco flavor along the way. This is not the usual candy store cherry, not black and goopy by any means, but it didn't ring my bells either, that's likely why it hasn't found it's way into a jar...Back to bed now.

Good Morning! It's a frigid 5° with a clear sky. I'm comfortable enough here in the workshop, but my hands are cold and I'll put my gloves on soon. Today sometime I'll try out the new snow shovel, clear the walk to the driveway, and put down some ice melter. Starting the smoking day with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Don Carlos smooth bent Two Note and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my insulated work coat. Have a good one everybody!

Good Morning Again! It's 3° right now with a mostly clear sky as the sun rises here in the neighborhood. Finishing up a bowl of the last of the Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake in the Don Carlos and next will be a bowl of Bayou Morning Flake. Time to sip some more coffee and while I check the headline news.

Happy Monday! Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Monday cob and coffee. After an overnight low of -3, it's up for about 2 degrees and sunny here. It's gonna stay single digits for a couple days here. Hibernation continues.

It's gonna stay single digits for a couple days here. Hibernation continues. It must be pretty rewarding, knowing that you have provisions aplenty, do not have to go to work, have a warm home and plenty of pipes and tobacco, and can hunker down.

I made my pre-snow supermarket run to the local Food Lion with a Brebbia apple stuck in my jaw, with my first taste of Watch City Eureaka. This is another solid keeper from the turbocat care package, and from what I can tell, any pipe smoker would do well to try these Watch city tobaccos. Eureaka, unless I miss my guess, has a high Virginia content, and while I didn't get any bite, if pushed I think it could nip a tad. The feel and pouch aroma remind me of the old Alborgg, from The Tinder Box, but the flavor is less mellow, and speaks of an old McCraines blend called McArris, that hasn't been with us since McClelland bolted their doors. Home at last, and well stocked with food, drink and everything tobacco related, I can kick back and watch the snowfall, with my better half, the dogs, and a fine smoke for company, add to that some good hot coffee, and it's a day I would wish for all of you.

After a brisk 28º morning we are now up to a very hot 38º here in the southland. Why is it colder here than at Russ's house in Ohio? Hmmm... I really miss summer. I can do hot better than cold and this winter seems to be a little harder than before. So I'll just have a wee bowl of Blackwell English in the Danish Made Soborg Bent Brandy... Enough whining! A small black coffee alongside as I'm down to the bottom of this mornings pot.

C&D Palmetto Balkan in my Don Warren Apple. John, beautiful grain on this one. Does it say "Human Folly Series" on the side of it? Inquiring "busybody" minds want to know.

Hello, everyone. Hope everyone’s been doing well. It’s been over a week since I’ve posted, but I’ve smoked several bowls of fresh Mac Baren Symphony in various cobs, 2020 Opening Night Flake in an MMC Elite Cadel reverse calabash cob, and several bowls of 2021 Sutliff Maple Street and mixtures of Maple Street with 2015 C&D Cube-cut Burley in cobs.
I am currently smoking 2019 Haunted Bookshop. Four years is the sweet spot on Haunted Bookshop where it hits it’s stride in aging.

It’s been down to -4 here the past two mornings and my master bedroom bathroom toilet line has been frozen since the day before yesterday if that makes you feel any better. With windchill it was -17 here this morning when I warmed up the car to run errands.

Mac Baren Mixture in an Ehrlich meerschaum Canadian. Ehrich is known for infusing asbestos into their Meerschaum pipes…. It offers a cool smoke, but the obvious danger should motivate you to send it my way. Certified in hazmat remediation, looking to help a brother out.

Peretti's #8 slices in smooth bent rodisian with a couple of nice small carvings made in France. The pipe my highschool English teacher gave me and Steve Laug beautifully restored for me a fine smoking piece of briar.

I’m smoking Old Joe Krantz I flavored with plum extract I made, in my Butz Choquin calabash. Throw in a pinch of Latakia, and you’ve made Epiphany.

It's what bonanzadriver gifted me at the end of last summer. I was like whew when I smoked it and liked it got an 8oz tin in the cellar! Feels great when a gamble pays off.
