Light snow still falling. Much of the state has been impacted with road closures and stranded motorists. Welcome to winter, I guess. Hope you're able to get around.

Light rain off and on, farmers cutting cane, lots of farm equipment on the road, binged on a tv series wife and I last night. Tired of watching tv hosts wring their hands, GET OVER IT!

Yeah, I spoke with an EL Paso driver (they cover most of NM) and a Denver driver, they have their hands full with the snow… Sure is starting early, but the dependence we have on water in the southwest, I am hoping for bumper crops of snow… ten years of it might bring Lake Mead to respectable levels.

So far I've received 762 political texts. I thought they would stop after the election, but no. Sigh.

Just the latest in a long string of soggy days/foggy nights here in Memphis. Gonna stay soggy through at least noon, tomorrow, too. I've been all discombobulated ever since I got out of bed, absolutely certain it was Friday. I've had to check my phone and computer multiple times to convince myself it's Saturday.

Owning a car has gotten expensive. 70k for a pickup, 5k a year for insurance, 1500 for tires. Of course inflation is only 22% over the last 4 years. Right?

Blood pressure is good 102/68 meds should be ready in an hour and a half. Off to lunch with Deere and Little Guy the Costco and pick up meds.

Yesterday another fruitcake day rolled around...four of the six sisters gathered for the yearly task, and I took my pipes and Toasted Burley out to the back porch. My reward was a lunch of baby sister's homemade potato salad and turkey and Swiss on her homemade bread. Afterward, I got a chance to use the corkscrew on my new Spartan Swiss Army knife, and followed that with a shot-glass of the sweet white wine that's used to soak the cakes...when I woke from my nap, I had homemade cookies and coffee to end a banner day

Today, I discovered a very flat rear tire when I went to leave. Pulling back in and removing it, thanks to the Hi-Lyft Jack, I can see the tread cap is blown in three places. Tire was worn and they will blow if I leave them on too long with worn tread, My rear tires wear faster on the inside meaning more frequent rotations needed. I suspect the axles might have been tweaked from overloading in the past. I have had three thousands pounds in this truck for long hauls. Many years ago I replaced the rear leaf springs with leaves about 60 per cent thicker. Truck rides like Curly's Stagecoach in the movie of the same name. LOL. So, I am off tomorrow in search of a replacement tire. The other one was replaced a few weeks ago. I have a spare tucked up under the bed and need to remount it more accessibly. It can be a little tricky getting it out from there. Maye I will try to get it out tomorrow and put it on?

That must be some white wine. Knocked you out with one shot glass.

In Flanders Fields John McCrae 1872 – 1918 In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

We got a day of sunshine for the first time in quite a while. Mostly sunny again tomorrow, I think, before we go back under the blanket.
I, of course, have been indoors all day.

I thought about the veterans that I know yesterday and this morning along with the ones that are gone who I knew when I was younger. Two of the three I have met in person off this forum are veterans. My father employed a few one of them was Tom Pickle who was 173rd airborne in Vietnam. I did not realize as a teen but when I got older and read a little I about crapped my pants called him and yes he was serving in 68,69. VETERANS Thank You and I have the ut most respect for you.

Had my coronary procedure down in Denver (Aurora actually). Friends drove me and Eli down (3:30 each way) and other friends took Eli for the day. He was badly shaken by the crazy traffic. Never saw so many vehicles or heard such strange sounds. He is still recovering this morning. Procedure done under general anaesthetic and took ove an hour. Recovery was a bitch. Doing much better this morning, both of us.
