Such a tragedy, Charlie. I'm very sorry to hear about this and the loss to you and your family. Fortunately for me, her father my cousin Alan is a generation older than me and never lived near us so I rarely saw him and I did not know Wendy or the kids… I say fortunately for me, because I know it would be heart rendering if I was close to them and had a relationship. Moral of this story, don’t depend on your smoke detectors to emit the “low battery” warning, be proactive and change them yearly.

Wife and I got our flu and pneumonia shot, never had to pay, Medicare took care of it not this time, didn't want to go back paid for them. I know why Americans are so mad, while waiting for the shot in Super 1 grocery store with a Walgreens, the ugliest prople passed with their shopping baskets, told the wife no wonder most people are so mad they see those ugly faces in the mirror first thing in the morning🤪

Had my coronary procedure down in Denver (Aurora actually). Friends drove me and Eli down (3:30 each way) and other friends took Eli for the day. He was badly shaken by the crazy traffic. Never saw so many vehicles or heard such strange sounds. He is still recovering this morning. Procedure done under general anaesthetic and took ove an hour. Recovery was a bitch. Doing much better this morning, both of us. Glad it's [mostly] behind you, Bob. Onward and upward! (Give Eli an ear scritch for me.)

I buying coloured pencils before shot because Zarnicky hearing that vaccines can making you artistic. Injection nurse giving Zarnicky shot in rear end. Zarnicky always happy when shot behind me.

After checking the spreadsheet, I find today's delivery gives me 13 tins of Capstan Navy flake. That ought to last me a good while no matter what STG does.

Light rain off and on, farmers cutting cane, lots of farm equipment on the road, binged on a tv series wife and I last night. Tired of watching tv hosts wring their hands, GET OVER IT! Quit watching the news. It worked wonders for my attitude. 👍

In Flanders Fields John McCrae 1872 – 1918 In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. I thought about the veterans that I know yesterday and this morning along with the ones that are gone who I knew when I was younger. Two of the three I have met in person off this forum are veterans. My father employed a few one of them was Tom Pickle who was 173rd airborne in Vietnam. I did not realize as a teen but when I got older and read a little I about crapped my pants called him and yes he was serving in 68,69. VETERANS Thank You and I have the ut most respect for you. I have 2 friends that are Vietnam vets. One owns a winery in Fredericksburg TX, and the other one is an unfunded public servant in New Mexico. Both survived relatively unscathed The winery guy was a Huey pilot, which had a low survival rate. The other friend was a medic, assigned to collect urine samples from platoons picked by random drawings. Sometimes they were in a firefight. He was shot down twice by our guys. All my Scout leaders were WW2 Army. Best generation for sure.

First time ever. Wow! For someone who spent most of his life outside that's an amazing record. I lost count of how many times I have been stung.

Got an account credit/refund for two more C&D Steamworks tins yesterday afternoon. All 4 of 4 tins I bought from the 2023 release were full of mold. Have 5 tins from the 2024 release cellared for at least another year or so and hoping they release it again next year. I also RMA’d and sent back one tin of Sutliff Pipe Force V to Missouri Meerschaum that was opened and bone dry upon arrival. Must’ve been smashed shortly after tinning from the look of it.
I ordered a few pounds of Mac Bummer and a few more tins of HU. They restocked the HU really fast.

Eli and I slept for almost 12 hours last night. My little buddy cuddled up against me and didn’t move all night. I guess we needed it. He’s doing very well after his metro ordeal on Monday.

Glad you're both on the mend.
